Don't get lost in the stats. After the first 12 passes we completely shut him down for the entire game and there should have been multiple interceptions.

It was his first career regular season start. Absolutely too early to say he sucks.

I think he won't be that good but regardless - he DID suck yesterday. So rookie QB that couldn't do shit in his first regular season start and we have an AA appreciation thread already. Smh.

Back to AA for a minute. These next few weeks will tell us everything we need to know about Allen's career as a CB. Should he hold up his end and play well, we have ourselves a new CB to match with Milliner whenever he gets back on the field. If not, AA is still a safety and can contribute.

That would be so cool if he turns out to be a decent starting CB. A guy who played a hybrid LB/Safety position in college finds his role as a CB in the NFL. How could would that be

I liked Allen a lot last year, and while Landry played decent, I still think Allen's medium to long term should be at safety. But he played well yesterday, and that is a great thing. Still, if the Jets can get some talent level back at Cb, no one should expect Allen to stay at cb. It's a short term thing, I am pretty sure.

I think he is actually better at corner and especially playing CB in "big nickel" makes our secondary overall much stronger. I have been really keying on him and I think he has Pro Bowl potential at corner. Seattle corners have changed the perception of a bigger guy without blazing speed being able to play elite CB. It is this stereotype that has kept him from becoming a NFL CB. He worked with CBs in college.

The Raiders do not have strong TE's. Allen imo may be the best Jet defender covering TE's running across the middle. When the Jets play teams with TE's who are threats to do that, I would much rather see Allen cover them than play outside.

Allen was AWESOME. Nothing short of great all day, He broke up passes and when they tested him by swinging the ball out to receivers at the line of scrimmage he shut it completely down by making 1 on 1 tackles.

The guy is a player in this league. Very versatile, which is great to see. He was a great pick by Tannenbaum

I thought Carr played pretty well for his first start. Thought the Raiders may have been too conservative with him. Didn't like him as a potential first round pick but as a second rounder I think that's a good pick up by the Raiders.

Carr has to show development, but yes, I think to the extent one can go on a rookie Qb's first game, he just might be a keeper for Oakland, who has not had a solid Qb for some time.

all the compliments thrown his way about his tackling..forget about his pass defense..its going to be like a yoyo all year long...but many raved about his tackling last week. Me included..and then he lays an egg tackling? I dont get that kind of drop off at all.

That was as horrible a secondary performance as you will see all year. Amazingly, I thought Rogers sucked today. Besides what he did with his feet, he was all over the place even on his completions. They were ripe for an easy upset...but get use to receivers having career days...if the pass rush disappears during the game, its game over.

Hopefully this puts an end to these silly appreciation threads. If someone is going to make one, make one after a player perform against a good team. Not a $hit team like the Raiders.

I appreciate Allen regardless of how he does at CB. He's a safety who's putting it on the line for the team by playing out of his true position. He'll get burnt at corner, it's unavoidable, he's a safety for a reason. That said, he's done okay as an emergency starter at CB....but it shows how thin the Jets are there that they have to press him in to service. So yeah, I appreciate Allen for stepping up....

Allen still played better than Milliner.

Milliner looked so slow on that long catch and run play by Nelson. I'm hoping it's because of the lingering effects of his high ankle sprain and not that he's so lacking in speed.
