Am I that old? I seriously remember this guy having promise...he's a Vet minimum retread at this point No need for him in NY unless he agrees to clean the locker room after games.
On that note though, he's also perfect to have in the game for a max protection passing down, espically play action. That sword cuts both ways.
Dude, I can see where you're coming from here but if you go back and watch the game footage you'll see that Thomas Jones was always lined up 9 yards deep in the backfield on every run play that wasn't a draw and 7 yards deep on passing plays. If defenses can't cue on that than the Jets could probably get away with putting the play calls up on the big screen instead of using head sets.
Becht was an outright animal for us in 04. Nobody better in sealing off the edge than Becht that year when Martin had his best year in the NFL. We need a blocking TE and Becht was as good as it gets for us. I haven't seen him play for Tampa very much but for cheap money I would sign him in a minute. I thought it was a dumb move to let him walk for cheap money.
Whoa!, easy there, Tonto. He was animal, alright, but let's not get too carried away by nostalgia. Or caffeine. = "Football (grunt)? Where...?" Who were we playing that time at home and he made a good catch right near the EZ? Haha, he got booed. I shrieked like hell and almost choked on my own spittle. Hilarious. Jets fans, stuff like that, ya gotta love 'em. I really ought to write such things down as they happen if not for anything but the sake of preservation.
When we had Becht, his catching was a liability, and he is not fast, as long as we weren't throwing to him, having him on the field was a benefit. If we were running, it didn't matter if they knew it, because he would steamroll linebackers and safeties on the edge. Having a guy like Keller gives this team the freedom to pick up a guy like Becht. Blocking like he does is always a benefit.
