Gregg Williams a good hire, but wow he is definitely gonna get his way which for a assistant coach is unacceptable. Jets organization always struck me as weak and persuadable, they cave to the loudest person in the room. In this case it’s Gregg and his Ed Oliver man crush. I hope I’m wrong.

Not true. It somewhat confirms the rumors that Williams thinks Oliver could be our Aaron Donald.

I thought Q. Williams was the next Aaron Donald? There are two Aaron Donald’s in this draft? I guarantee Jets are not taking Oliver at 3, Q. Williams a different story altogether though.

You'd be surprised, but a lot of teams that are interested in Oliver think he could be the next Donald. Heck, Oliver modeled his game after him. They are very similar players.

Then a lot of teams are retarded... you don’t go fishing for anomalies. Oliver’s odds of becoming Aaron Donald are low. Don’t go looking for who could be the next this guy or the next that guy because you will always be disappointed.

Yea and those teams are us, historically bad drafters... the Raiders who are the laughing stock... and then teams picking in the double digits. I would have no issue whatsoever with Oliver if we trade back with the Broncos. You don't chuck and pray at 3 when there are more surefire guys available at your biggest position of need.

I agree it means nothing. It's like showing film of Manning/Brady/Rodgers/Brees, whoever you want to name to a QB. Just because you show them film doesn't mean anything.

Oliver is still a very talented player and was highly regarded for a reason.

I think with a trade-back scenario, Oliver could be an option. I don't like him at 3 either.

He can’t get sacks. I’m sick of players who can’t get sacks. We also don’t even need a DT it’s not a position of need. BPA is nonsense it needs to stop

He was being misused in Houston. And he can get sacks, you just won't get them if you are getting tripled teamed playing nose tackle when you should be attacking the defense differently.

I am just talking about Oliver as the prospect BTW, we haven't discussed his fit with the Jets really.

Ok so then we don’t know what he can do and this isn’t worth risking a pick on. Let another team swing for the fences for once with a DT

If the Jets pick Oliver at #3, we will riot. I can't believe so many mocks are showing this nonsense. I could understand Quinnen, but Oliver? No chance.

I know what he can do, but I can't say the same about that coach in Houston. In a trade-down I won't mind it, I would prefer a Jonah or Brian Burns but hey im not the GM

  16. I can understand not wanting a DT..but Quinnon being ok but not Oliver?Makes zero sense

the one thing with oliver is i don't see him being a DT in the NFL. he's more of a 4-3 DE or 3-4 Edge rusher. he could play DT in a 4-3 but i don't see that as ideal

  18. Not so sure about that. Hes not long enough or flexible enough to be an edge or a wide 9.

He can play 1-2-3-5 technique as well as drop back in short zones.

What he lacks in size he makes up for w quickness/explosion & change of direction. He can fastball his way to penetration/stacking w ease.

he's a bit undersized to play DT especially in a 3-4 which would mean he would be a DE or OLB for us. at DE he's still undersized. both of our 3-4 DEs are 300lbs. he would have to put on some weight which would cost him speed and quickness. conversely if he dropped like 5-10 lbs he would be a good fit for OLB. he's not prototypcal height (he's honestly best off as a 4-3 DT now that i think of it) but the closest player comparison i can think of is adalius thomas. he reminds me a lot of him, who was a good OLB for the ravens D for many years. thomas was the same height and only 10 lbs lighter he was also a 2 time probowler and 1 time first team all pro. but a lot of people felt he was too heavy and short for OLB thats why he was a 6th rounder

why so many complaints when we have such a great track record of taking defensive tackles/ends in the first round.....oh wait

    Bryan Thomas
    Dewayne Robertson
    Vernon Gholston
    Mo Wilkerson
    Quinton Coples
    Sheldon Richardson
    Leonard Williams

    what could possibly go wrong?

To be fair though, most of our other first round picks at other positions have been of a similar quality - this team just cannot draft well. Going back to 2000 we have had 24 first round draft picks (plus trading our first in 2005 for Doug Jolley and a 2nd who was traded a year later for a 6th round pick) and there have been about 5 really good ones (too soon to say about the last couple) but considering first round picks are supposed to be about 50:50 that is a pretty damning performance
