no, it's because you're re-focused on the teams other needs and somehow still stuck in the same tiresome QB thread. Quite possibly!!

You always field calls to listen to what other teams have to offer, but if you think the Jets are going to trade Sanchez, you're wrong. He is going to be a big part of the Jets near future.

I do believe Sanchez will be there at #17, based on all the QB movement in FA. Also, I agree if Sanchez is there at #17 the Jets will pick him.

If we draft him he will not be traded and would be the next rookie QB to win a playoff game.

My mistake. I should have differentiated younger v. older players, the latter being known quantities their teams either no longer want to pay for, have a replacement in the works, or want to move in a new direction. But I didn't say that, so I admit my previous post was misplaced.

I do believe, however, with a younger Qb, an unknown quantity, it is a mistake to allow him to go into the last year of his contract with the opportunity to show how good he is. It is the unknown aspect that makes it such a risk - he has all the incentive to do well and all the leverage if he succeeds.

That slant sounds a lot like a play I saw in the SB last month by a pretty good QB.

My question would be if Mangini believed Kellen was to be the next starter, why did he draft Ainge? Just to be a backup? Was Brett R. improvement that much of a surprise? The mind of Mangini is a very scary place to venture, but you have to wonder..... If the Jets do pick Sanchez maybe we can trade Kellen or Ainge to Mangini for a ham sandwich.

Didn't Oregon run the spread while Clemens was there?

    1. 5th round QB? Yes, he was drafted as a back up, or at best as a developmental prospect for at least 2-3 years down the line.

    2. Again, yes it was. Ratliff was almost cut by the Jets but the day Schottenheimer showed up to cut him turned out to be the best day in practice of his career up until that point. The guy has a lot of upside and could become our next starting QB.

jet rooter agrees with you 100%.the facts do not lie.ainge didn't play for a good team and a lot of his talents did not show up on his stats. I amsure that mangini will try and steal him away from the jets.

Chris Simms would be a good pick up. He won't cost us a heap and has starting experience. If could we get him from the Broncos?

So we draft Sanchez cut Ainge and go into training camp with 3 unproven QBs. 1 with minimal game experience who failed miserably as the projected starter.God I surely hope not.

I hope for the Sanchez fans that he has a better pro day and workout than he did at the combine.

The real QB of our future will be picked with the 2nd pick in the 2011 draft by our new GM. Welcome to the dark side boys and girls.
