While coples may never turn into a vonn miller or aldon smith in his pass rushing skills he is still an incredibly talented player. You never see him whiff on tackles and in fact had the most qb pressures on the team last year. He sets the edge and I feel incredibly comfortable with him out there. He gets unneeded hate from these sojf's and its a shame because he is a very valuable player on our d.
there were plenty of draft "experts" that had the Jets taking Hill with their first round pick - so its hardly as though this guy was a reach or a surprise - sometimes players don't pan out - happens to every single team.
Thy replaced a couple of guys on the scouting team, and really it takes time to clean up someone else's mess. I think you will see the jets draft offense a lot in next years draft, obviously depending on BPA. Offensively Amaro is a step in the right direction, and I think Idzik is making sure the jets are a strong team in the trenches. Building from inside out insures that the running game and the QB will be productive. The jury is still out on Geno. I believe the finished product is one draft away, I just hope the jets can make the playoffs this year and give their fans something to hang their head on.
It already has been to some extent. The former head of Scouting, Joey Clinkscales, went elsewhere, I believe. There were 2-3 other scouts whose contracts were not renewed. So at least a third if not a half of the scouting dept. is new.
Scouting department not perfect but agree we are due for a change. Pryor and Amaro aside, have big question marks about the Idzik picks Jets69 must have worse vision than myself at my age if he is cutting Coples, sorry ol boy lol.
Coples had a very strong rookie season in 2012. Last year he was switching positions and got hurt in the preseason. Once he came back he got off to a slow start (which is kind of to be expected in his situation) and then played well for us down the stretch. I don't understand the hate for the guy at all.
I believe you are mistaken by including Rex on this pick......(see below) QUOTED fr member "BacktoQueens" in the "Stock in Stephen Hill" thread ".......heard Westhoff on the radio Thurs talking about how he walked out of the draft room fuming after we traded up for Hill. He said he put together over 100 detailed write ups for guys in the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds. Then Tanny goes out and trades away picks for a guy like Hill. Westhoff said it was clear his input was not going to be heard, so he left. also said it was a contributing reason to his retiring. Tanny put no emphasis on ST at all during his tenure here. We also know Rex wasn't for the pick. So who exactly convinced Tanny this was the sure fire pick to get, that we needed to trade up?...."
It's the cute girl at the front of the Jets facility Woody hired to greet all the rookies when they walked through the door in May. "Hi Draft pick. My name is Jane. Hi Draft pick welcome to Florham Park. Hi Draft pick you will be rooming with Taj Boyd next week...."
Daniel Thomas was 2nd rnd pick not long ago just cut by fins. High picks get cut all the time because drafting in the NFL today is not as efficient as it should be.
and she died? what a tragedy and there was another before her who i assume, based on the thread title, died also? what is happening to these girls? how is this not a big story? we need a press conference
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/39471/mini-shakeup-in-jets-scouting-department They already have.
To MWOT both Coples & Wilson up to this juncture are unproductive which is why they are on my cut bubble.
