what hurts me the most is hearing about Nick's dad.and for those of you who are fathers i assume you feel the same. Nick's father flew across country to watch his son pitch in his 1st major league game.then to only be murdered the same night. nick's dad requested he be left along in the stadium to grieve at pitchers mound the last place he saw his son alive.then he sat for hours at his boys locker along uncontrollable crying. image watching your kid grow. play little league, love america's past time coaching him.watching him grow through each level to eventually to make it to his dream,to Pitch a Major League Game only to Die that Night. So Sad. RIP I HOPE JUSTICE IS SERVED...
I don't usually get too emotional about death of strangers but goddamn this is one sad story. Reading 17a's post actually brought a tear to my eye, going to hug my kids right now.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jeff_pearlman/04/10/too.young/index.html A really, really good read. A lot more truth and substance than the usual cliches. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/jeff_pearlman/04/10/too.young/index.html There really is nothing comforting at all about this story. Nothing. The only good that could possibly come out of this is that somehow it will lead to the prevention of drunk driving in the future, but I doubt one more tragedy will do much to enlighten people.
