    I'm shellshocked.

A top 5 QB IMO. Clearly he was a HOF caliber talent every bit as good as the hype when he came out of college but I doubt he did enough to get in.

I think he might be back. Maybe a couple of years away to let his body fully heal will light the fire again?

The money these QBs are making now is insane the temptation could be too great for him. At 32 he'll still be young enough to play at a high level.

The Colts should do the right thing and trade away his rights.

It's a better league with Andrew Luck in it.

Their standards are a bit different.

    I can kinda understand it.

That reminds me, it's almost time to take another sabbatical. Gotta start drafting up another magnum opus.

No surprise considering the organization kicked an all time great to the curb after getting injured. Booing somebody who gets hurt is extremely classless.

Boo freaking hoo, they had what, 19 of the last 21 seasons with Manning or Luck at QB? Welcome back to the real world. Any Colt fan that booed last night has their priorites out of whack, it's not like Luck waited because he wasn't trying to play - he has real injury issues. Luck wasn't retiring to smoke pot like Ricky Williams or faux retiring to go play in Russia like Kovalchuk leaving the Devils.

I hope Jets management pays heed to this. OFFENSIVE LINE. Everything else is bullshit

Just listened to his comments. This doesn't sound permanent to me. I'm guessing he will feel differently if he can find health.

I have no issue at all with fans booing performance. On the flip side I've been watching pro football for well over 50 years. I've seen guys hurt badly, die young and have years of pain and depression in retirement. I always like to see guys leave a little to soon then a little too late. I always think guys that hang on are making a huge mistake but it's their choice.

The booing seems like an assumption that Luck knew he was going to retire before the draft and FA. I suspect that's not the case. I think the last injury and the snipping by the owner and medical staff and the reality of putting himself through another season when he wasn't fully healthy and up to it lead to the decision. I think assuming he knew he was going to retire before the season is a big stretch. Without that assumption you're essentially booing a guy for recognizing he was hurt and done.

I think more players should do what Luck did then hang on when they are clearly not physically and mentally able to go full out.

Another example, made clear over the last 2+ years, of phony midwestern “niceness”. Glad that lie has been put to bed

They will probably become a run heavy team, and won’t start 1-5 again.

8-8 is what I’m predicting for them.

Titans and Mariota don’t scare anyone. Texans definitely should stay at top of division. Jaguars with Foles as starter should help them be a more balanced team.

Obviously the Colts still own his rights, but now that he’s retired, does that mean he won’t have access to their doctors and facilities for rehabbing?

    Oof.....brutal, but true.
Although I think they were well positioned to take that division and make noise in the playoffs. It's possible this could also make other AFC South teams more wildcard eligible now by not losing to the Colts.
    who knows..

It does suck for the league either way.
Luck was a HOF level player, with a career derailed and ultimately cut short by injuries.

Starting QB contract numbers suck. It's time to take the starting QB's contract off the cap.

How about bringing the cap up to, say 250 mil?

McDaniels bolted because he is a garden variety weasel that Kraft meddled with, and for no other reason.

Luck is not overrated, he'd have been the most talented QB McDaniels ever had the chance to work with.
If Belichick had Luck his whole career, they'd both be counting rings, and Luck would still be playing.

btw, Pats fans are in no position to call any other fan base pathetic or disgusting. They've got the market cornered on that.
Were you part of the free Hernandez demonstrations?

The problem with that idea is it'll make it harder to win if you don't have an elite QB. The option of paying a lesser QB less money will no longer be a possibility.
