Cant argue with that. We have a hell of a rotation on the Dline and secondary and our linebackers will shock people.
Woah, I wake up, expecting not a whole lot, and we sign Dyson! Totally unexpected. I think it is a good signing though, shores up our CB position. I wonder if this means Barrett's days are numbered? Better get a new avatar!
I know you're a generally angry and bitter person, but Law was the best CB not named Bailey last season. --- Additionally, anyone that thinks Miller will start over Barrett is kidding themselves.
Lol what a way to start the day. I was not happy when we didn't get him last year, but I'm glad to see him on our team now. For some reason our defense doesn't look so bad now that we got an experienced cover corner back there. Not only that but his best years a yet to come. My favorite signing thus far! Glad to be a jet fan
Great f'ng news this morning. I guess this is a big FU to all those who say that no big fa's want to sign with the Jets. This is an awesome signing although I do think that Barrett will not be in a Jets uniform come fall.
Excellent news. BTW, Law was far from good last year - especially in the first half of the season, he had numerous penalties in key situations.
2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 73 | Key Alert: None Comment: Has an excellent burst out of the break and as a result will break up a lot of plays and get his fair share of picks. Each and every year he has matured in terms of instincts and recognition skills and displays good range in a variety of zone and man schemes. Has the speed, acceleration and technique to recover if caught out of position. However, Dyson had a bit of a down year in terms of tackles and although he has become a formidable cover corner, he still seems to lack focus and is inconsistent in other areas of the game. He is not a very physical presence in press coverage, lacks ideal bulk, strength and size and can struggle in the red zone vs. bigger, more physical receivers.
anyone remember the contract Dyson signed with Seattle? I'm just wondering how much money we saved by waiting a year.
Why am I not seeing this reported on some news outlets. Yahoo sports...NFL.com...saw it reported by Randy Lange this morning in the Record.
He was constantly injured and was cut. HIs previous teams wantyed to take a much smaller salary and compete fro a starting job. He'll start for Jets but one INT does not replace Ty Law's 10 INT's. Jets had a measly 21 INT's last year, 12 of them by players the Jets cut. Dyson had one. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235209
I don't want to be a wet blanket but I'm concerned about his injuries. The Star-Ledger this morning mentions that "last season he battled health concerns. He started the first three games but was forced out of the lineup because of hamstring and ankle injuries and ultimately lost his starting job to Kelly Herndon. Dyson finished with one INT and 20 tackles in 10 games, five starts." This doesn't exactly sound stellar, but maybe our F/O knows more about this than what's on the surface in the article. If he's healthy now that's a huge plus, and let's hope he can stay that way. At 26 he's certainly a lot younger than Law, but he'll need to go some to fill Law's shoes, IMO. Again, don't want to be a wet blanket, just pointing out some obvious negatives. Let's hope our coaches can work to improve him and that he stays healthy. Either way, his age is a huge plus over the aging "Law Of Diminishing Returns."
Yes, an excellent pick. Hopefully they can learn the 3-4 somewhat quickly. We've focused most of our attnetion bringing in defensive players, which I'm fine with. I now think with the 5 first day picks we have, at least 4 should now go to offense, and 2 of them towards linemen.
This is really pathetic. You complained that Jets keep signing these nobody players, Dyson is not a no name. You complain that they sign players no other teams want, both the Titans and Seattle wanted to sign him but he chose the Jets. During his first 4 years, he missed 2 games with injuries. Last year was an aberration. He played in all of Seattle's post season game. Dyson had an INT returned for a TD and fumble recovery, in Seattles route of Philly. You just look for things to complain about. Amazing.
