Jets better push hard for an OC before other teams hire thier next head coach and start forming thier coaching staff(s). Money talks.

With all the current OC's about to get HC jobs, there are going to be more lucrative OC positions availalbe

Agreed.. and given our rather unstable HC situation, there's no way I would gamble moving my family into a situation like that if I were looking for a job. Add that to Bowles not hiring his replacement and we're probably gonna wind up with a no name coordinator looking for a come up. 2017 is looking bleaker by the day considering TB is gonna need his new staff in place before draft day.

Norv's already struck out twice as a HC and he's 65 years old, I doubt anyone's giving him a third kick at the can at this point.

Garafalo hinting that the Jets might look at the college game for a coordinator.....?

It will probably be some no name guy with experience at both levels, an old friend of Bowles or something, but wouldn't it be cool if they brought in Art Briles and his offensive mind in the NFL with his old general Bryce Petty at the helm? If nothing else it would be interesting and hell I'd take interesting right now

I'd be looking for the guy with the confidence to come into Jetland believing he can not only succeed as Offensive Coordinator but put himself in position to become the Head Coach should the situation arise.

    The Plot Thickens..

    Just peachy

My only thought is Bowles has to save himself

That said he MUST hire someone good whether he like it or not

I'd love it if we could get Norv Turner to come here, but I can't imagine he'd come to this dumpster fire after leaving whatever drama he had going on in Minnesota that caused him to jump ship midway through the season.

We're probably not getting a top candidate due to the instability here so I'd rather go for a young and innovative guy with something to prove....someone from college would be fine with me

Beats hiring some retread desperate for a position

Any way we can go after UW Offensive Coordinator Jonathan Smith? I wouldn't mind getting him out of Seattle..... Okay. I'll shut up.

If Houston loses and O'Brien is fired. Jets need to get him for OC - get Hack and him together tomorrow.

With the Macc connection this makes the most sense to me.

Then if Bowles blows in 17, Mac stays and O'Brien coaches the Jets in 18.

If O'Brien is fired than the Jets should fire Bowles and hire O'Brien as the HC. He's a hell of a coach.

P.S., 0 chance that he is fired.

I just got back from 3 weeks in the Philippines with no internet access, so obviously have missed a lot...or maybe nothing, given how so little really changes with the Jets as far as positives go.

Anyway, has Bowles definitely been guaranteed his job? Is it possible that Woody is simply waiting to fire him based on whether he can get someone better? I'm hoping that this is the case.

As for who the next OC should be? As long as Bowles is the HC I don't see anyone making a big difference, unless they can somehow turn Petty or Hack into great QBs, and I'm not holding my breath. They're also in need of upgrades on the OL, DB, Pass Rush, RB, TE - no OC in the world can overcome those shortcomings.

Except for two out of three people on TGG. They want a guy who walks, talks and dresses like Bill Belichick but they won't use his name. They want a guy with a decade of successful experience and a draft day crystal ball. They want a magician. That guy doesn't exist and the closest things to him all have jobs they're not leaving.

That's find at least they might scout some and sign some UDFA. The garbage they put out these last few years was not even worth the Lingerie League status. They couldn't block, couldn't catch. They were just wasted bodies on a roster.

I think the only real scenario where O'Brien ends up a Jet is if Rick Smith and the Jets have a deal under the table just waiting for HOU to fall in the playoffs.

Otherwise, as you say, will never happen.
