Considering Bill O'Brien is an offensive coach, he could have felt the pressure coming down from above, hence the switch from Godsey to O'Brien as a playcaller. When you sign off on a player like Osweiller to insane money, there are very large expectations. O'Brien, obviously felt the need to take matters into his own hands, in fear of what could become.

With that, haven't many of you mentioned you want a younger OC who will work with the young QBs? We're now interviewing a 38 year old with experience in working with QB's and we are upset? Hell I'd rather Godsey than the RB coach from Denver we were looking at.

It's not like the offense improved after play calling duties were stripped from Godsey. In fact, I think the offense played better when he called plays. Maybe Osweiler is just the worst QB in the league.

Will Fuller was certainly better when he was calling plays, possibly bodes well for Robby Anderson and Devin Smith

John Morton of the Saints seems like the #1 target right now with George Godsey as QB Coach.

Morton worked under Payton, Harbaugh, Carroll, Turner, Kiffin and Callahan.

there is an argument there that the offense stopped effectively getting the ball to Deandre Hopkins once BOB took over. 111 catches, 1500 yards in 2015. On pace to repeat it after 2 games in 2016... then BOB takes over and he finishes with a pedestrian 78 catches for 954 yards

I do think Morton is Bowles' top choice. They interview him yesterday and then later he tells the Daily News he's "pretty sure where he's going with OC". Sounds like he found his match, how cute

Wake up today and during downtime at work I check out this abysmal joke of a Franchise and their OC search

Should have skipped looking ..bottom of the barrel candidates all

FYI...John Morton has never called an Offensive Play and the other guy demoted worked with another fake Ostweiler,,ah duh duh

    Is World News more depressing????????

According to Ian Rapoport #Jets have done extensive homework on former #Texans OC George Godsey, a strong candidate to fill their opening. Got strong recommendations

He also said "Godsey found Hack, actually." referring to how Bill O'Brien recruited Hack to PSU

I hope we can bring them both in. Godsey being Hack's QB coach could be huge.

Actually, when Godsey was the OC for the 2015 season, the Texans were middle of the pack offensively. When BOB took over the play calling this year after the 3rd game is when the bottom fell out and their offense went to crap.

In all likelihood, neither will be any good. Morton has never been an OC. Will he know how to call plays? Does he have a "system" or will he keep Gailey's in place? Can the Jets even afford to think about hiring an OC with no actual NFL experience, and only one stop in college as an OC?

Godsey at least has experience calling plays and the Texans were a middle of the pack offense under his play calling. It's hard to say whether he'd be a better QB Coach or OC, or be any good at either, but since he worked with the Pats, he's probably at least decent.

I'm fine with bringing in Godsey. Let Mac and Bowles double down, so we'll know in a year whether to clean house again.

And the Jets next OC is... some bum with losing credentials that couldn't get hired by a team with any potential. I'd rather hire some Madden champion or successful college OC than whatever idiot we'll end up with.

    Another potential coaching option?

That's huge... heck get all of these guys on the coaching staff. Morton, Godsey and Clemens just fine a way! That's hella tutelage right there.

Maybe he finally wants the chance to be an OC that actually gets to call the plays.

Maybe, maybe not ... regardless they should be interviewing all 3. And bring one of them in as a QB coach if they can. Offense needs all the help they can get

Clements has been an offensive coordinator twice in this league already. (not a very good one)

Just like the Jets cupcake schedule in 2015 made their stats and record look better than they were the same is true of the Texans.
In 2015 they had 2 wins against teams with winning records, They beat the Bengals 10-6 and the Jets 24-17. It was that game that it became clear Bowles is a moron for making the same dumb mistakes with no adjustments as in the prior week against Buffalo.

Even this year beating the Bears isn't telling. They beat a banged up KC team in week 2 that wasn't very good and if the Jets had a better coach they should have beat as well. they followed that up getting shut out against NE with their 3rd string rookie QB.

I guess its just me but I'm not seeing how Godsey was good or competent given the competition he faced.

Godsey might not be any good but what would the Patriots being without their starting QB have to do with Godsey's offense?? Also, our Jets played KC the week after Houston did and that KC defense looked pretty good. As in...history books good with the 8 turnovers

The Jets especially Shitz made KC look better than they were at that time. KC had a ST TD off a fumble and a pick 6 defensive TD. Their offense only scored 1 TD and that came from a Shitz int at the Jets own 22 so KC had a short field. A better game plan by a better coach I think changes that outcome, that's my opinion.
