I do enjoy badass Rick but it would be pretty huge for changing the pace of the show. Plus this is supposed to be the zombie apocalypse in a world full of danger around every turn. If you know for a fact that certain people are just invincible then it completely defeats the purpose of the show, there's no fear. There is already very little fear from walkers, I think they need to make them more of a threat again. What better way to make walkers a threat than to have them take down the most important character in the show. They could do it in a sad way too where he gets bit but hasn't died yet and has to say goodbye to Carl and everyone. Ratings would be nuts.
No, ratings would die. People watch television shows because they become connected to the main characters. You eliminate the very main character you lose the audience. This goes beyond what you would enjoy, it is basic viewer behavior.
In general, maybe. Like mentioned before if you kill off Jerry Seinfeld and that show stops, that makes sense. But this is a world of danger where danger is around every corner. If you basically give immunity to the core characters and every new character is the equivalent to a red shirt in Star Trek I think it defeats the interest and the fear because you know no matter what happens Rick will come out unscathed and the fringe guy is going to die instead. Or maybe that's just me. Don't get me wrong: I like Rick and I won't be terribly upset if they don't kill him off but they are going to have to simulate that fear in other ways. Personally I didn't care when Bob, Lori or Andrea died, they all sucked anyway. Shane dying was necessary and kind of interesting and changed the pace and direction of the show somewhat even though he was an interesting character. I will say one thing: They better kill Rick before they kill Darryl.
The audience isn't watching the show for a realistic portrayal of post apocalyptic zombie survival. They are watching it because they are engaged in the specific character plights that they are absorbed in within this world.
Have they announced how long the hiatus is this time. I have a feeling this next episode is going to be brutal and thinking they are going to lose either Carol, Beth or very outside possibility Daryl. Maybe 2 major players, one from each group possibly?
I just don't like how stupid people are in this show. Why believe Eugene? I'm not saying they should have predicted all of his BS but why invest so much time and possibly your lives on such crap with zero proof. They talked so much about his hair and didn't put 2 and 2 together that a genius scientist wouldn't be walking around with a mullet. Then you have Sasha "Sure, Mr. Enemy Cop, I'll take you to the end of the building while completely alone and not have you sit down or something while I turn my back to you." And for the priest: couldn't he have just told them he wanted to leave and have them remove the board on the front door so he can leave? They are going to have to take it down for when people return anyway. Darryl ripping the head off that walker by the eyes and smashing the cop over the head was awesome though. In general the effects have been incredible this season. I'm just not liking some of the character development and not to mention they finally made Carol a badass and then they stick her in a coma for half the season. The last half of the season better be a big improvement over the last 3 or 4 episodes because so far it's been pretty weak tea.
Why the hell wouldn't Beth try and stab her in the throat? What would stabbing her in the shoulder do. Dumbass.
