I thought the show was fantastic. I loved the character development, pacing and mixing in (but not overdoing) the gore. I'm very excited for episode 2.
I'm not joking...This has best show on television written all over it...What an epic show and what an amazing second episode. FUCKING AWESOME
This is a good show. I'm happy I decided to look into this one. I stupidly decided to ignore Breaking Bad and I hear its fucking amazing.
There's only six episodes in season one, which is kind of disappointing. I've read most of TWD and I know how this season's going to end. It will be fucking awesome, but Breaking Bad is on another level. AMC has already picked The Walking Dead up for a second season, which will hopefully have The Governor (awesome villain).
I have no idea how this show is going to end, I didn't read the comic. I still can not believe how good it is. Obviously, my comment wasn't to slight WD, was just saying. I did read the story outline with the Governor and it's seems pretty wild. I also think with out any future knowledge the roof guy is going to rear his ugly head. We shall see...... So far this show has been a huge dose of under-promise and over-deliver. (at least in my eyes in regards to not liking zombie stories in general). The tension they built tonight was great.
I think the show will continue to be a major hit because as much as it is about the zombies, I think the human emotion and drama makes this show so good. I also need to watch Breaking Bad..AMC is where magic happens. But I came late to the party and started watching Rubicon and now Walking Dead. Need to watch BB too...But you cant take away how amazing this show is considering it is NOT EASY at all to make a successful show about zombies. Btw, every show goes through 6 episodes first season trial. The same happened with Lost, Friends, The Office and every other show we love.
Agreed. I also read all the Graphic Novels and that storyline with the Governor really took things to another level.
Just had a friend who knows my tastes tell me I must see this show. Anyone know what site I can go to, to catch up on what I've missed?
AMC had the first episode up on their website. Interesting bit of trivia from the first episode: When Rick first gets out of the hospital and comes across an abandoned army position, he sees several Huey helicopters. The helicopters are marked with 1/7 and crossed sabers, which would be 1st of the 7th Cavalry- Custer's outfit (Currently 1/7 Cav is not "Air Cav" anymore. The Hueys shown in episode 1 are Viet Nam vintage)
I was watching so much football yesterday that I forgot to watch this show. Wow what a fml moment. Saw the first episode and loved it. Wonder if I can catch it today.
It's probably the most cost effective route to take when using an army helicopter merely as a stationary scene prop. They clearly spend boatloads of $$ on post production in CGI.
Also one can theorize, because of the state of emergency -- the powers that be had to utilize all equipment at their disposal, including antiquated helicopters.
Sorry, the focus of my comment was more on the Custer reference than the old Hueys. If the zombie apocalypse was truly upon us, I have no doubt that whatever equipment that still runs will be used. I just thought it was kinda funny. Little Big Horn didn't work out to well for them and now their descendants get wiped out in Small Town Kentucky during the zombie apocalypse. Sucks to be them.
