I read that production of season 2 (13 episodes) will begin in Feb. That means that it won't be back any earlier than the summer. It seems unlikely that it will restart until the fall. When you are the top rated show on cable in the fall, that is where the network will want to keep you.
Breaking Bad is coming back on around July. I recommend that you guys either catch up on that show or watch season four until the second season of The Walking Dead starts. AMC is the best channel on television. As for TWD: SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS I'm really interested to see what direction they're going in with the Dixon brothers. It's pretty obvious that Merle hacked off his hand and he'll be back later on in the season. For those of you that haven't read any of the comics, the Dixon brothers were created strictly for the TV show, so I have no idea what's happening with this storyline.
SPOILERS************ I can only think of one handless villain in the comics. Michael Rooker is one of the bigger names in the cast, they might want to introduce him early and then bring him back later as the Governor. I can imagine some pretty intense scenes between Rooker and whomever they find to play Michonne.
That is an interesting theory -- and it actually provides Dixon -- who may make a better lackey fro the governor -- some motivation to do the chopping.
I'm a big fan of zombies and love the series. I have not read the comics - so I have a few questions - either for those of you that read the comics or speculation by viewers. In case this constitutes a spoiler because it reveals stuff from episode 3 and some may not have seen it yet, I will mark the requisite warning: SPOILER ALERT What is the deal with Shane? He says he's Rick's best friend but sleeps with his wife, and we now learn that he told her that Rick was dead. He beats up the wife-abuser. I can't tell if this guy is good or bad. Do you think he manipulated the situation to sleep with Rick's wife? Or did he genuinely believe Rick was dead? He says he is Rick's best friend and is glad he's back, but we are led to believe (I think) that it is a lie. What do you guys think about him? Also, while I know that the amoutn of time that passed while Rick was in the hospital and then with the father-son has been uncertain, what is the sense of it? A month? Will we see more of that father-son? I assume so.
The TV series and the comic vary in a number of ways. Shane is a huge jerk in both. I am sure Shane will go out of his way to make you like him even less as we procede from here.
But so far in the tv show, I'm conflicted on him. He foster-fathers the boy that is not his. He steps into the shoes (and bed) of the widow (if he really thought she was). He sticks up for the abused wife. Those can be seen as positives. He possibly lied to Rick's wife to sleep wth her, and nearly killed the wife-abuser. If he's a jerk in the comic, that's probably where it's going.
I got the sense that Shane beat the wife beater stupid because he was angry at the "Widow" for calling him out, not that he really cared about the guy beating his wife. He saw an outlet for his anger and took it. I never read the comics but they seem to be framing him into this selfish out-only-for-himself / no-morals type of guy.
That's definitely what happened. Shane took his anger out on Ed's face...probably imagined he was punching Rick in the face.
At this point we have no idea whether or not Shane actually knew Rick was dead. He could have just assumed so. I mean, it probably wasn't out of the realm of possibility. Hell, if I knew someone was in a coma in a hospital, and then heard that hospital was ransacked by zombies, there's no way I'd believe they were still alive.
Speculation is probably right but Tommy is also correct that we don't know (at least yet) whether Shane really believed that Rick was dead. So far, he's been pretty nice to his returned best friend Rick, although he must be personally disappointed and probably angry that he isn't with his new family any more (including his/Rick's hot wife).
I don't want to spoil anything so I can't be specific. In the comic I assure you that Shane is in fact a huge dickhead.
Based on what we've seen on the show so far it just seems like Shane is more concerned with himself than being an active dickhead. He wanted to get out of town, not mount some half assed rescue mission on a hospital to save a guy in a coma, so he told his wife he was dead. Just like he wanted to lie to the redneck to avoid problems or anyone else going back into town to try to save him.
Really good episode tonight. Kirkman wrote it...so I expected it to be good. They've really changed a lot of things up. They've changed so much that I'm not sure how the season will end anymore.
This show is damn good...Man I only wish they had a 13 episode first season. Ah now we have to wait forever after the next 2 episodes. Also need to read the comics.
I got pretty furdoogled watching the Jets game yesterday. I was still pretty drunk when TWD came on -- I'm looking forward to rewatching it after work lol.
Spoiler****** Good episode last night, After seeing the hot blond women with blood all over his face (while sobbing over her sister who was just bitten) it made me wonder if she can get the "disease" from contact with the blood. Say in her mouth or a cut. This is really a great show. Who would have thought that a Zombie show could be this good.
