How will we ever find a #2 reciever and a blocking TE? Especially when 200 guys get cut before Sept?We are a little weak at WR, but so were playoff teams NYG, Balt, Miami,Philly, Minn and Tenn. Stop thinking like a Yankee fan, football is different. I also think depth through the draft is a little overrated. You can still have depth through FA and it still be inexpensive. In the current market, that theory is overrated. Think of this, the 2 highest paid linebackers in the sport were undrafted FA's.

No they would not have.Jones is a good back, but is 31. No way in hell any one gives a first for him. To think so is silly.

The Cards got a guy who runs just like Jones, with a bit more power and speed in the end of round one. The only worry about Wells is can he stay healthy. The Drop off in play of running backs in thier early 30's is well documneted. Thats why Jones could never get a first round pick. A mid rounder for him would be a stretch at this point.

I think you miss the concept of a team wanting to win now willing to sacrifice the pick for one player. In 2004 the Pats traded a second round pick for a 30 year old Cory Dillon coming off of injury because they thought they were a player away from a title. They made that move because they felt they were ready to win now. I think the cards feel they are ready to win now and have the luxury of trading picks because they do not have glaring holes all over the field like our Jets do. If they can trade a second for a 30 year old the Cards can def trade the 30th pick for a 30 year old with little injury histry coming off an Afc rushing title. A rebuilding team can not make that trade. A team that is one player away has to make that trade if they feel it will help them win the big one now. Our Gm should have tried to at least approach them with it because you don't know what someone will do unless you ask. You have to look at this from a point of a team who can win now and has a win now mentality. They are not playing for three years from now.

this thread is dumb.... its not a very well presented argument. Its more fear based and uninformed about what is going on.

Burress? He's not playing until 2011 at the least. The very least.
