Woody, Tanny and Rex all have stated Sanchez is the starter. Barring injury to Sanchez it doesn't seem to matter what goes on in camp. In defending their acquisition of Tebow they have locked themselves into an order of Sanchez, Tebow, McElroy. Woody sounds like he isn't liking his credibility challenged. Anyone starting Game 1 besides Sanchez would at the very least question the credibility of the top three voices for the team. That would just push reporters to the anonymous sources even more.
He kinda has to say this as saying: "We got Tebow so I can con Tebowfanatics into buying PSLs and so that the Jets beat out the Giants in the Media (for all the wrong reasons) again" probably wouldn't go over so well...
As a Tebow fan and homer... I 100% agree. If he can't beat out Orton, how the heck is he going to beat out Sanchez, who I view as a better QB. Tebow is not a practice player... never has been. Back in UF I'd watch him at practice his freshman year and was scared to death with what he'd do to our passing game in 07. One Heisman and a National Championship later I learned a valuable lesson that there are some rare players who just game. Unfortunately its not going to help him get a starting gig anytime soon. And all this is nonsense. As much as I believed Tebow deserved to start next year for the Broncos, Mark has just as much a right if not more so to start for the JETS next year. Baring a total collapse or injury, i just don't see Tebow starting this year. I'm ok with that and other Tebow fans better get used to it. He could use the time to develop while still contributing in a package. Its actually a great situation for him.
I don't believe Woody but now that he opened his mouth I hope they go after him when things come out differently than what he says. Woody, Tanny and Rex are putting a new spin on the three monkeys. See no truth, hear no truth, speak no truth.
team has become a joke It is ridiculous what this team will do to grab the back pages of the papers. Namath was right on. Like we don't have other concerns than a backup QB.
Tebow will be used very similarly to how we used Brad Smith; except he will throw more out of the Wildcat. Tebow will push Mark Sanchez to be a better quarterback. Tebow is a far more credible back-up than Mark Brunell; and this will force Sanchez to work harder to improve. I see Sanchez having a better year than he did in 2011; and keeping the starting job throughout the season. Providing we solve the Right Tackle situation, and draft an explosive pass rusher in the 1st round, I expect the Jets to improve to 10-6, and earn a Wild Card.
Tebow plays <20% of the offensive snaps; has some success, directly credited with at least one win. Sanchez is a slightly better player than in any of his previous seasons, but loses rushing TDs. Throws 20-25 TD, 12-16 INT, Jets go 10-6, playoffs determine how season is viewed.
I have to imagine they'll keep Tebow under wraps in preseason. Couple of vanilla wildcat plays, then leading the 2s.
