They will spin it in his direction because the Jets are the shittiest low life organization in all of Sports-dom and Revis is near godly.
Most expensive probably. What about namath or riggens? My favorite is wayne chrebet. He was not the best, but was the 1st great slot guy we ever had.
He was MUCH a much better CB than Riggins a RB or Namath a QB. All HOFers(or will be) but Revis is in the discussion for best corner of all time, the other 2 are not in any best ever discussions and Riggins wasn't as great for us as he would become in DC. If we use players that just played for us Ronnie Lott would be the best ever.
Joe gets all the credit but our D led our 1968 team to the SB. Joe was a major contributor and deserves credit for that but people act like Joe carried that team and that simply isn't true. Joe was vital to the success of pro football, not many players have been more important off the field but on it revis was a MUCH better CB for us than Namath a QB.
In Jets history I will put Martin as best player Jets ever had over anyone and everyone else. But Junc is right - best player to ever happen to football was Namath.
If you haven't read "Going Long" or "The little league that could" you really don't know how important Namath was to pro-football in general.
He's in the discussion but that's all. Klecko made all pro at 3 different positions and was probably the best.
Strictly talent wise I think Klecko, Martin, and Revis are the best players in franchise history. Namath helped win a SB and was larger than life but he's a bit overrated as a QB. I never got to see him play so its all 2nd hand but I think he is overhyped by our fanbase.
this is a very viable point. surely the best player in my lifetime. klecko, gastineau and many others were great players but nobody that i can recall was as completely dominant for the length of time revis was.
I love Joe, one of my all time favorite Jets but he made the PRO BOWL at 3 different positions not all pro- that is a HUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEEE difference. As great as Joe was and I think he belongs in the Hall of Fame revis is the best corner I have ever seen and among the top 5 to ever play the position. We can't say that about Joe.
for a while, he was one of the few jets players that was league recognized for positives reasons and someone you could take pride in. i remember watching the nfl top 100 players voted on by the players and revis being ranked #6 and being the highest rated defensive player in the nfl. it felt great knowing that he was on our team im also pretty sure he had a tough upbringing so this should be interesting
