I fail. From MSNBC: Bananas are fattening False. One medium banana provides only 105 calories — you’d have to eat at least six bananas to equal one New York slice of pizza! Bananas are also a good source of fiber (3 grams), magnesium (32 mg), potassium (422 mg) and B6 (0.4 mg). And since foods low in sodium and rich in potassium and magnesium can help manage normal blood pressure — incorporating bananas into an overall healthy diet may reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke. What’s more, this nutrient packed, fat free fruit is a great source of vitamin B6, which helps boost your immune system and assists in the formation of red blood cells.
Yeah I agree with most of everything you've said in this thread and the disagreements aren't all that major. I'm not at all saying that people should be consuming loads of HFCS - that's the last thing they should be doing because it's crap. My point is that it's not much different that sucrose and your body treats it almost identically. The real problem is the empty calories that HFCS and sucrose provide. I'm much more willing that you and most everyone else in here to shrug off all the trace chemicals that we are exposed to on a daily basis. I mean it's almost anywhere you look there is the potential to exposure to all sorts of crap from the air/food/water/whatever. Is it a good idea to limit your exposure to these chemicals as best as you can? Yeah, I guess - makes logical sense. There hasn't been any conclusive studies done that I know of though that say we're exposed to anything too harmful though. So being a research nerd I figure that I'll take my chances until I find out that something is definitely killing me.
It's all relative of course because as any toxicologist will tell you, everything on this planet is a poison in the right quantity, even water. TCDD dioxin in a quantity smaller than a grain of salt will do this to you:
This is true. I like to freeze them and then throw them in the blender with almond milk and some whey. Makes a kick ass smoothie without the use of ice.
 at bananas being fattening. I doubt it'll help much, but I've been doing some exercise on non-gym days. Friday and Saturday moved some heavy stuff around at my sister's house in New Jersey. Sunday helped pull down a tree in my backyard. Today went for a long, strenuous walk. Tomorrow back to the gym.
P90X, never heard of it before but sounds very interesting. How much does that shit cost, and do you get amazing results
I'll be on vacation in another week, going to the southern coast of SC. Day 2, I'm taking a passenger ferry out to Bull Island, and spending the day walking 16 miles of trails on an uninhabited island. Then day 4, 14 miles of trails on Pinkney Island, a barrier island between the mainland and Hilton Head. And miles of walking around Charleston in between. Just the two islands alone is 30 miles. I'm one of those people that actually looses weight on a vacation, I wish I had the opportunity to do this all the time.
I was going to go the free route from the torrent sites but bought it off ebay for 100 bucks new... Kicking myself.
whenever i'm serious about losing weight the main thing i like to tell myself is that something is better than nothing. so while it may not have a large impact doing that stuff was better than eating doritos and watching tv.
that's what I've been doing. Set up the new treadmill in front of the big screen in the basement, generally I've been watching the first half of the 7pm college BB games. Working my way back up, I used to go 8.0 mph for 6 miles. Right now I'm doing 6.0 incline @ 5.0 mph for 30 mins which is like 420 cals Then, I walk for 20 mins @ 9.0 incline @ 3.4 mph which totals like 650 total cals in 50 mins. So, which those sessions, in 50 minutes I do over 6.5 miles worth of work b/c 1 mile = 100 calories effort. the inclide shreds your legs up too.
You've lost weight on a cruise? I never have. All you can eat + fruity drinks (cause you're on a cruise) = no weight loss for me...
That's what I'm saying, the guy was saying he's never lost weight on vacation. He's probably never been on a cruise because everyone I ever spoke to has gained 5-10lbs after just a week
