I've taken the last 2 weeks off from lifting... not a great idea when cutting. This week during lifts I found my squat had decreased 10 pounds and that my 4 rep max deadlift is now my 1RM. Ouch. I'm deadlifting again tomorrow though, hopefully I get a chance to redeem myself. Cut is going well enough though. I've lost about 26 pounds since August 21. Hopefully I near the end soon. I've also set aside some goals for when I resume bulking in what I hope to be a month's time. This time it'll be more of a gradual clean bulk though. In particular I'm hoping for a 500 raw bench by this Summer. That'd be sweet.
That's weird. I was just thinking about reviving this thread the other day, just to check in on people. I think that's the second time this has happened. Sorry to hear you've lost some progress 1028, but two weeks shouldn't be terrible to recover from. In a month you should be back to pre-break levels. That happened to me back in the summer. (Got lazy.) Overall, I still workout every morning, and now I eat fruit as breakfast and snacks during the day, with a salad for lunch. Then I go major carnivore for dinner. I'm pretty steady on weight these days. No gains or losses, but my muscles continue to gain definition.
I am stuck at about the same weight. Still doing good exercising, but I eat more of what I want. I need to work harder to lose more weight though and gain more muscle.
Diets going well so far... today was a bit of a cheat day though. Especially dinner: ended up guzzling 1 Philly Cheesesteak with hash browns, 2 egg and ham sandwiches, half a slice of apple pie, 1 bowl of beef stew, 1 hot and sour soup, some chips, and the best part... one heaping bowl of Count Chocula. Damn right. When I cheat, I go all out.
Has anybody read or know of anybody who's read "The Truth about 6-pack Abs by Mike Geary"? I'm thinking of purchasing this e-book...i've done some digging around, and it's been getting positive reviews.
Mike Geary is a trusted source for me. I get his newsletter. Very knowledgable. I may have purchased his e-book. I honestly can't remember at this point. I'm pretty sure he's the first guy I really took to when I started my research though, so I probably did.
No problem bro. He's definitely legit. He's a really well-learned guy on the topic of nutrition/fitness. I'm 95% sure he's the first person I learned of high-fructose corn syrup from, in his free newletter. You have to respect someone who is willing to just hand away what they could easily sell. If you want another recommendation, Vince DelMonte is really good too. He's big on muscle gain, even for hard-gainers. I get his newsletter too.
Apparently Geary's book 'The truth about 6-pack Abs" is quite the read...and it focuses on losing belly fat the correct way. I've never had problems bulking up or putting on muscle...I'm 6'0, 250lbs...with a little bit of a spare tire....but i always had problems losing weight from my gut....part of the problem is because i'm type 1 diabetic....but it shouldn't hinder me totally. I've heard good things about this book...I"m going to order it today..and see what Geary has to say....
Yeah. He talks a lot about belly-fat. It's a significant health risk, and the focus of all of his work.
Im back into weightlifting, got back from the gym and running. Some friends have noticed Im getting a bit bigger when playing basketball the other day and 2nite Im taking out this chick who I could tell loved my muscles, this board just might be the sexiest football one around.
I think someone here suggested I take Glutamine... I didn't notice anything for the first 3-5 weeks, but now I'm making breakthroughs that I've been stuck on for months (especially on legs and bench), and I can usually run only two days after an intensive legs lift. I finally rep 205 (8x), and can now put up 2 plates 2-3x. My post workout cocktail: 2 heaping scoops of whey (standard cheap GNC -- wish I could afford the pricey stuff) 1 heaping of Glutamine (standard GNC as well) A handfull of frozen strawberries/whatever frozen fruit I find at the supermarket (makes the shake taste great) Half a cup of skim milk. At the beginning of the week, I add about half a container of instant grits to carb-load. Got that tip from ronnie coleman. Unfortunately, besides that I eat like shit.
