I think these teams feel sadness more than we do- The following teams have never won a Super Bowl: Houston Texans Jacksonville Jaguars Detroit Lions Cleveland Browns Minnesota Vikings Buffalo Bills Cincinnati Bengals Philadelphia Eagles San Diego Chargers Atlanta Falcons Tennessee Titans Carolina Panthers Arizona Cardinals
I'm one disagreeable cus I realize. But I don't think it's sad at all. No team is "owed" a Superbowl victory just cause your rivals have won a few. New York is fucked up because you two teams for every sport: the winning one or the losing one. You chose the losing one and are free to switch to some other team that wins more frequently. Or, just root for the front-running team each season. But, if you choose to root for the New York Jets, you just have to accept what your history is. It's not good or bad. It's Meh. There have been some abysmal years. There have been some solid years. There have been some crazy-ride years. This, for now, is who the Jets are. If that makes you sad, then you are one weak ass bitch. The Jets have A Superbowl victory. And one of the most significant Superbowl victory--the first AFL Superbowl victory. Yeah, it's the only one...for now. But I can take pride in that. So, not really a sad history, IMO. I live in the Mid Atlantic. Grew up in New Rochelle. So, I get it: Giants fans are sticking it to ya with stuff like "I guess the jets really COULD wait!" . You made the choice to support the jets. It's really not mandatory. Shit, I'd change to the 'Skins if they had a decent color scheme. The Jets are the heartbreak kids. But, to me, what always eventually killed them (minus a muddy south FL field in 1983) is a lack of elite talent. The recent successful Jets relied on FAs mostly. The drafting hasn't really been that good since...whoever was doing it after the Jets drafted the Sack Exchange. Yeah, there has been hits, mostly, but the Jets were always more interested in "football players" vs. athletes who play football. And always worried about off the field. Seems the Jets were always undersized at some big-boy spot (Except when they had the sack Exchange and Sean Ellis/JA.). But I think they have finally solved the underlying problem. MacCagnan understands the athleticism needed to win the Big Game. The Jets are the Mets. Live with it...and don't be sad, Tiger.
Dude you are on a roll today. Never said anyone was owed anything, just that it was a pretty uninspiring coaching list or at least of their accomplishments with our team. I have been with the Jets since my childhood and picked them as a youth and don't believe in changing teams for the flavor of the month or uniform. I am approaching fifty years of Jet fandom and have lived it and died with it. I am sorry after all the bickering going on in the previous posts that I thought I would put something out that wasn't so divisive. Sorry I missed on that attempt. Honestly, have a good weekend.
Really? I think of Ewbank and I think Super Bowl. I think of Parcells and I think of quitter, didn't finish the job, unfulfilled promise, cap hell, poor drafting, and leaving the HC job a mess.
ya but at least the majority outside of Cleveland Houston and Detroit, the rest have all been to the superbowl in recent times, brought a little excrement to their fan base
All I have for Parcells is admiration and appreciation for turning around this franchise. Good things began after he took over. Weeb won a Super Bowl but overall he had an under .500 record with the Jets. I also begrudgingly give credit to Rex for the two AFC Championship games. Even though I rate him as a below average NFL head coach.
I think it's pretty obvious that the Tuna is the one. Any other coach we had who is even close to legitimate HoF material? Sticking it to the Patsies just adds to the value for me.
The Curtis Martin deal was a textbook definition of sticking it to the Pats, the NFL made a rule about poison pill contracts after that
