how can we make a title game, hold a lead in the 2nd half of that game and not be a true title contender? we were true title contenders in '98, '02, '04, '09 and '10. The Giants were legit title contenders maybe 3 or 4 times in that span and one time('00) it was more b/c the NFC was so weak. GB was a legit title contender probably 3 or 4 years the others were consistent title contenders.
The same HOF with a torn throwing arm? Give me a break. In addition, our defense was not nearly as good in 2008 than 2009. Our defense was near historic in 2009. You also fail to mention we only made the playoffs in 2009 because Indy pulled all of their starters when they had the lead in week 16. We don't win that game if Peyton is in.
yep, the same guy who made a living playing through pain and never missing a game. The same guy whose arm was more than good enough if he wasn't making dopey decisions the last month. Our D was not as good but we had no Brady to worry about opening up the division and a home playoff game, the sched was MUCH easier and we had a HOF QB. we made the playoffs in 2009 b/c we won the games we needed to win to qualify. teams get breaks, good ones take advantage. we couldn't take advantage of all the breaks in 2008, we did in 2009 and nearly made the SB. maybe we don't win if Peyton & co stay in, we'll never know. we were only down 5 pts when they left. In the div rd at SD we trailed by 4 at the same point in the game, obviously they wouldn't pull starters but let's pretend they did. Everyone would say we had no chance but they played the game out and we won so to say we wouldn't have had a chance is not being fair.
Some people were huge McNeil fans. I was not one of them, but to call him a bad pick is not accurate. Even Kyle Brady was more a guy they didn't know how to use properly than an out and out bad player. Mike Haight should have been in that clip.
That's my favourite part too. It's just such a heartfelt outpouring of pure shock and grief, like he just watched his dog get run over. I absolutely love the way he doesn't even need to know which fullback.
The 09 Jets was this close to missing the playoffs we lost plenty of winnable games that year with a rookie QB going through his growing pains. 02 Jets made the playoffs because of a technicality, 04 Jets were a solid team but we were not a better team than Pitt, NE or the Colts and if we did get to the SB the Eagles would have kicked our ass. 2010 Jets were a great team and I felt that we were on par with all the best teams that year and could realistically beat anyone that came out the NFC. I can't say the same for us in any other of our playoff runs in 02, 04, 06, or 09.
Matt Stafford says Hi. And Nacho (along with every bottom feeder QB) would look a whole lot better with Megatron as thier CONSISTENT #1 target. I'm not defending Sanchez cause while I hope he turns his career around, I expect him to fail. But facts are facts.
But they made it and once in we nearly made the SB. The '02 Jets won a division where the LAST place team was 8-8, tiebreakers are in place for a reason and e won b/c of tiebreakers. GB made the playoffs on tiebreakers in 2010, does that take anything away from their SB? NYG only won 9 games in 2011- does that take anything away from their SB? Yep we were better in the reg season in 2010 than 2009 but the result ended the same.
junc can you leave just one thread alone without ruining it with your constant trolling? i mean seriously bro, there are 3 other topics that you have taken over with your sanchez bs. leave this one alone. you said your piece now move on and let the thread come back to what it was originally about.
The 02, 04, 09 Jets weren't good enough to beat any of the elite teams and only the 09 team beat an elite team (Chargers) but look what happened against the Colts in the AFC championship game. That was my point you mention the 11 Giants and 10 Packers but those teams were better equipped to win championships than any Jets team between 2000-2011.
look what happened against the championship game? we held a 2nd half lead and it was a 1 score game in the 4th. 2002 we whipped the Pats preventing them from winning the division- the ONLY year NE didn't win the division when Brady was their full time starter. '04 we were one of 2 makeable kicks away from the title game they won 9 and 10 games though, you are all over the place. One set of rules for the Jets and another for everyone else. be fair.
The Colts were a better team that year and they eventually took control of the game because they had a much better offense and its unrealistic to expect the defense to hold an offense scoreless for 60 mins especially one led by Peyton None of the AFC east teams in 2002 were great teams. And if Nate Kaeding made the field goal against us in the wild card game so what's the point? Yes those misses were horrible but regardless the Steelers WERE the better team and they made the plays to win the game. The Packers had a good offense and defense not to mention they had tons of injuries that year. They had a complete team as far as being solid in all phases including special teams. The Giants had a good offense and defense but were kinda inconsistent the point is that they had the talent to win a championship. The 02 Jets weren't as good as teams like the Steelers, Titans, Raiders and Bucs. 04 Jets weren't as good as the Colts, Pats and Steelers. 09 Jets weren't as good as the Colts, Pats, Ravens or Chargers (despite us beating them) 2010 Jets were the only team that I felt like could beat anybody in the postseason.
They were better but we had a chance to win. NE won the SB in 2001 then would win the SB in 2003, we prevented NE from making the playoffs in 2002. Sd was lucky to get that game to OT on a penalty after we stopped them, We had tons of injuries in 2002, if we were healthy we win 11-12 games easily. The '02 Jets were as good as any team that year.
