I Have always stuck up for Pennington through out everything but that lob that he threw right to the other team was the end of the pennington era for me , If The kid clemens doesent get his chance next week i will be very suprised.
Chad Pennington is my favorite player in the NFL but I have to admit it is time for Kellen Clemens to start.
For the third time in two weeks Pennington had the ball with the chance to tie or win the game in the fourth. In Buffalo he threw a disgusting interception to lose the game. Against the giants in the 4th quarter he lobbed the ball up on FIRST DOWN into double coverage off his back foot...disgusting interception. Then with one last shot to win the game he threw a pick six. O-3 in big situations. Sit this asshole. He does nothing for this team besides make other people laugh at us for how gay looking and sounding our quarterback is. Even if we somehow "salvage" this season we probably still wont even make the playoffs and have no shot at beating the colts or patriots. Put in Clemens and bank on some good draft picks. Not that the jets are any good at those either.
Bottom line--7 points. 3 balloons. Actually 4 balloons, Coles turned one of them into a gain. Every INT is directly attributable to his awful arm strength.
Noone should be talking about firing Mangini. We all knew it would take years to make this team good when he started, don't lose sight of that just because expectations were raised this year following a cream puff schedule 10-6 previous season.
Oh my God. Chad is done. If Mangini wants to Keep HIS job, he needs to put a QB who can throw in there. I'm so fucking tired of depressing SUndays. I just hope the Yanks win one tonight.
True... Mangini isn't going anywhere.. nor should he... but he needs to get Chad out of there... Sutton on the other hand... C YA!!!
Of course. Actually, the change was made before the Baltimore game. Of course, that was due to an injury, but the change was made nonetheless. Then the coach went back to Pennington. Clemens should have remained the starter. That's at least what I wrote at the time. Now we have been subjected to Pennington being the #1 goat two consecutive weeks. Clemens is going to start soon and I will assume it will be next Sunday, but he will have his ups and downs the rest of this season. So be it. He has to be broken in sooner or later.
I don't think it's in the Jets interests in any way shape or form for Chad to be booed off the field after his first INT next week. I hope Mangini is wise enough not to put the Jets, the fans and Chad in that position.
There is no way Mangini and Shot will replace Chad as the starter for the next game--they have committed to him and they have indicated no inclination to back off. If he has a bad first half, I wound not be surprised to see Clemens come out in the second half.
Believe me, if the Jets have a terrible year this year we'll see Mangini, Tannenbaum and Bradway (finally) all pushed out the door and a high profile hire similar to the 97 Parcells hire replace them. Bill Cowher is too available and the Jets have too much money not to make a huge run at him.
I'm not so sure. What if the Jets finish the season 1-15, 2-14 or 3-13? I could not find one instance in NFL history where a head coach had that poor of a season and ever rebounded to achieve success with the same team. Either the coach was fired or he kept his job and continued to suck. My study did not include head coaches who started off (either as rookie head coaches or as retreads with a new team) with a miserable season such as Bill Parcells in 1983 and Jim Mora in 1998.
