Maybe they think he has potential? He was on the field with the first team offense a couple of times vs the Redskins...

Potential would be a reason to add a UDFA TE to the PS. Again, it makes sense if they think someone else will sign him off waivers.

Cummings is your starter if Scott or Harris goes down. No way he gets cut.

I think Cummings is the guy who's most likely to make the team out of the ILBs we have... however he (like all the other backup ILBs on the team) doesn't seem to have convinced the CS a whole lot. But I'm rooting for him to be on the final 53.

Maybe it's just Rex being picky since LB is his expertise...

Look I'm not in Rex's head (or belly).
All I know is he's gone on record for a while saying the 4 TEs all make the team and since we only have 4 TEs and one of them is Cumberland he has probably impressed the CS enough.

Every year one or two UDFA survive final cuts and this year it looks like it'll be Cumberland.

How much showmanship was involved in showing that dry erase board?

Ryan and Tannenbaum are the next Siegfried and Roy.

    Kroul is making this team.

Two ST penalties will not get him cut.

I see him being the next Mike Devito. He knows how to play this game.

Cummings couldn't make the roster last year until people got cut/injured. Westerman is in there before Cummings.

They did give him a three year deal (though no dead money if cut)

But the kid is 6'4"-6'5" 260, and ran a 4.43..and has hands..

(the ball he missed in the Wash. was a tough chance.)

You may be seeing him early.

Damn those are some impressive stats. I hope he can learn to block because this dude screams mismatch in the passing game.

They are hoping they can turn his measurables into the clone of Dustin Keller, they want so badly.

It will be curious to see, if they do get him in the mix the first two weeks.

They did not generate much film on him during the preseason...if he can catch like they say he can they may be looking for teams to line up expecting Hartsock and Keller...

I think they both will. Westerman is an OLB, Cummings is an ILB. Who else is backing up Scott/Harris?

That's what I meant by potential.

If he's that valuable at this point, fine. Cut Mulligan. If you're hanging onto him to give him a 4 week tryout and are only going to run with 4 WR (which you can get away with since DK is on the roster), even better. I just don't want to see 6 WR (counting Holmes) and 4 TEs.

Westerman gets plays at both positions. They'll both probably make the team but with Westerman's lack of burst and his ability to read the play in front of him, Westerman gets the call if one starter goes down. Cummings of they both do.
