screw that, i want the JETS to WIN the rest of their games (not going to happen).. but if they can manage to be 5-3 at the halfway point of the season, then we are in great shape. The rest of the season is... @ New England (close game, could go either way) Chicago (probably will lose, but i have faith) Houston (should win) @ Green Bay (should win) Buffalo (should win) @ Minnesota (close game, probably fall just short) @ Miami (should win) Oakland (should win that could easily by 5-3, thus making us 10-6 probably drafting between 15-20th. We could still get very good players their, and have a great season
Oh man, here we go again... You know, with all of the obsession over the top of the draft, what's funny is that our best looking rookie, Mangold, was drafted 29th overall this year. And our highest pick in recent years prior to 2006, Robertson, has been a complete bum. There are quality players all over the draft. It's not worth it to root for your team to lose for a higher pick. If you want to root for a higher pick, root for the Skins to lose and up that 2nd rounder.
The team is 4 & 3 and people want us to lose? I don't get it? The Jets are not a great team and we have holes, Tell me which team in the NFL is great and doesn't have holes? The league is not that good and we are not much worse than the best team in the NFL which is? KC who sucks beat SD today. Jacksonville lost to Houston today. You face Denver in the playoffs and they have a QB capable of total self destruction just as Chicago proved last week that Grossman is capable of killing them on any given Sunday. The Jets are not a very good football team. Who is?
Anyone who doesn't want us in the playoffs is retarted. Anything can happen in the big dance. The Patriots were not a great team when they won their first Super Bowl under Brady, but that win bred them the confidence to create a dynasty. The Mets were clearly better than the Cardinals, and how'd that turn out?
We can beat the Bears, if Chad actually plays well against a good defense. I don't think that is likely, but other posters on this board have faith in him, so who knows. If Chad loses horribly to the Bears and Patriots, I say we get a new QB for next year.
what about Kellen Clemens; you aren't already giving up on him are you?? I'm not saying Penny needs to be replaced, but he could be the "new QB for next year" that you are talking about. Personally, i think that Clemens needs 2 years on the bench before he takes over the starting job from Pennington
Cleveland -- win @ New England ) -- loss Chicago -- loss Houston -- win @ Green Bay -- tossup Buffalo -- win @ Minnesota -- loss @ Miami -- tossup Oakland -- win I'm thinking 8-8/9-7 right now, which would be a pretty big achievement.
The fans who don't want us in the playoffs this year are clueless. You cheer for your team to make the playoffs right up until they are mathematically eliminated from the race, period. Just because you think they have to fill some holes, is no reason to want to pull out of the playoff race. Lets make some noise now, jets in 06.
I didn't mean someone that's not on the roster necessarily, Clemens could very well be our QB of the future. I don't think he is ready now, but maybe next year, or maybe you're right and it will be two years. Rivers seems to have benefited from sitting on the bench for awhile, maybe Clemens will have the same situation. Or maybe Chadwick will finally begin playing well against good defenses. Not likely, but probably our best scenario.
Actually, Cleveland at Cleveland next week is going to be a very tough game. I think the Jet's will pull it out but they could easily lose it. The Browns 1-5 is deceptive because they have lost to 5 pretty good teams in New Orleans, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Carolina and Denver. If the Jets look past this game they'll be 4-4 going into their bye week.
You shouldn't be torn. 1. If the GM can't draft an impact player, no matter how high or low the pick, then he's not doing his job. We, as fans, should not have to root for losses in any way, shape, or form. GMs get paid quite enough to do their job and we shouldn't have to endure any amount of anguish just to make their job easier. 2. Winning is NEVER bad. It's why the game is played. Even Herm knows this. You should never feel guilty about winning. I'd feel far worse giving away tainted wins to our opponents. Not even a team in contention for the #1 draft pick should ever give away a game to a team that needs to win to get to the playoffs. Seeing my team lose is one thing. But if I knew that the players and the fans didn't have their hearts in it, I'd want to vomit. Throwing away a season is unforgiveable.
The elite teams right now are Chicago, Seattle, New England (no way we are half the team New England is right now) and Indy. I kind of half agree that we're not that much worse than the next 10 teams though. There are an awful lot of teams that could win or lose on any given Sunday against just about anybody, as the Jaguars proved today.
The good thing is that there is a bye week after the Browns, so there is no reason to look ahead for anything.
We aren't good by any means but the entire league is suspect. Overall the NFL has bad coaching, bad QB play and not enough smart quality players to go around and we see it every week.
having high draft picks year after year is certainly the way to success in the NFL. just ask the lions.
Unless you want the jets to be 1-15 -- to get the number 1 -- again, its not like if you miss the playoffs you become lottery elgible. You wind up with the 15th pick instead of the 12th?? The turnover is so fast in the NFL that you win when you can -- and if things break your way in one season, dont complain.
