o ok.. well anyway.. hopefully he can get himself back for a bowl game and prove that he's not seriously injured...
I've already made the comparison to O.J. Simpson. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=140882&postcount=24 I'll use another pun. Peterson runs very violently. He will enter the NFL with less tread on his tires now, so that is good. However, I think this will be a guy fans will always worry about much like Fred Taylor. The way he runs is simply not conducive to staying healthy. I think he's always going to have nagging injuries, if not bad ones that cause him to sit out large chunks of time. As for Simpson, he did have six healthy seasons sandwiched between injury-ravaged seasons at the beginning and end of his career. Simpson missed one game in his rookie season of 1969, but I'm not sure why. He missed six games in 1970 due to a knee injury. He missed zero games from 1971-1976. In 1977 he missed seven games after knee surgery. In 1978 he missed six games due to a shoulder injury. In 1979 he missed three games. He missed games in Week 1, 11, and 12. He did have knee surgery that year. I'm not sure if the surgery was prior to the season or after the Week 10 game.
This is really unfortunate, the first game his father is able to come to in college and he breaks his collarbone. At least his dad got to see him play most of the game, if it was last week it would've been really upsetting for Adrian. He'll probably stay for his senior year now, but if he comes out I would love to get him despite the injury with a McGahee-like pick.
There are two things I'm sure of after this injury: 1. Adrian Peterson will NOT be returning to Oklahoma to boost his draft status or any such nonsense. He wanted to get to the NFL since about halfway through his freshman year, this injury won't hurt him very much at all. He's still easily the top back in this sad class, top 15 lock. 2. Adrian Peterson will be a tremendous back, but retire at an Eddie George type age. He'll have some minor injuries throughout his career, but he'll be worth the bumps and bruises along the way. He's the type of back that can literally carry a team on his back, which is really what this Jets team needs.
Not that its ever a good thing to have a major injury, but I don't think this will do much to hurt Peterson's draft status. The injury came early enough in the year that it shouldn't limit his ability to participate in pre-draft workouts. Also while it's not good to have an upper body injury like this, a major leg injury (to me) is a much bigger red flag for an RB.
