Cavka got hurt but he was not exactly a starting NFL OL either, maybe a fill in but longterm no way. Reaquiring Coles a good move .... do you remember why he left in the 1st place? Because Badway lowballed him. 500 thousand isn't a ton of money in the league. Coles knew his worth and Badway lowballed him. Yeah they drafted Cotch but how often was he on the field? I'd hardly call giving up a 2nd rounder for J Mac a good move. Baker is average but I like his fire so I'll give you that one. The previous regime had one draft pick that they were able to get anything out of and that was Vilma. How much were Cotch and Rhodes on he field under Herm? I'd give the credit of their emergence to Mangini and Tanny because they actually used the ceoncept of playing the best players not the guys you like or vets. If you are the best player you are playing with the new regime end of story. If you can't play you are out. The fact that you continue to support a regime that quit 3 weeks into last season blows me away. Yeah Herm has done well in KC but he also has Larry Johnson and pretty dam good OL, they also have been blownout twice and are not a sure thing to make the playoffs which would be underachieving with KC but right on par for Herm.
We didn't lowball him we just didn't overpay him. How has all that overpaying worked out for Snyder? Bradway made very wise decisions on all the players that left for DC. This is Cotchery's 3rd year, he has played sparingly up until this year but he played and contributed and now he's posibly our best WR. McCareins was our best WR in 2004 and Chad's go to guy, he struggled last year but who didn't w/ 5 different QBs? He's doing well this year as a 3rd option. Baker is a good blocking TE and when used he can catch the ball. really? I count more than just one: -Vilma -Rhodes- started from day 1 -Coleman- started from day 1 -Robertson- was a top DT in 2004, hurt last year -Jordan- great backup -McKensie- quality RT -Moss- PB alternate for us in '03 -Henderson- great STs player and would ahve been a starter if not for his motorcycle accident. -Thomas- satrted showing signs last year, has gotten better this year. -McGraw was a solid starter when healthy but was rarely healthy -Baker- solid starter at TE -Hobson- was a solid starter is turning into more than that. -Strait- good nickel back -Cotchery- started playing more last year and has turned into an excellent WR. -Jones was a solid starter for us last year -McClover was our best STs player -rashad Washington might be our best STs player now and is playing mroe and more on D. -Nugent is a good K -Miller is developing at DB and is the best KR in the game -Houston is a decent RB That is a pretty good list, MUCH better than what Parcells did here where 90% of his draft picks were gon w/in a year or 2. How did they quit when the team kept fighting? Where is the evidence of quitting? The fact that they WON 2 Dec games and were competitive in most of their games despite being vastly unermanned?
Is this a joke. I was a HUGE fan of McCareins in Tennessee and I was in favor of the trade. But I am big enough to admit I was wrong. He is invisible and has all but lost the confidence of the CS. He whined at the start of the year and played like crap. Hell Dwight and Smith, the Jets 4th and 5th WRs and Baker (TE) get more thrown to them than McCareins. That should tell you something. He had to plead with the CS to be put on ST just to get playing time. He is a bad 3rd option, so bad he is now the 6th option. Utter dissappointment. I could spend all day on that list and the sunshine explanations. But 4 stand out to me: 1) McGraw stinks. He was a dissappointment when he was healthy and played. If he was so "solid" he would be starting on a crappy Detroit defense, not filling out the depth chart. 2) Rashad Washington is terrible. Even on special teams he only makes a play every once in a while. He is invisible. Not to mention he is COMPLETELY useless as a safety. 3) If Strait was so good why did the FO try to trade his ass twice then just cut him? 4) Jones was not solid either as a RT or LT. He is not a starter, he is a career swing tackle on the depth chart. If he was SO solid a starter, they wouldn't have needed to draft Brick, and Clement wouldn't have taken his RT job. He was just the only option available last year.
mcGraw did a good job for us, his problem is he could never saty healthy. washington might gbe our bst STs player and is getting more PT w/ the D Strait was our nickel back ona top 5 D in '04- he couldn't have been that bad. Jones was our best OL last year, he did a decent job. I don't know what happened to him this year but he was decent last year in his first year as a starter. As for McCareins, he was our best WR in 2004. Every time we needed a big catch Justin was the man we went to. he struggled last year but he has contributed as a 3rd WR this year. Was he worth a 2nd rd pick? just for 2004 he was butt he last 2 years he hasnt; been but still a good player and we are better off w/ him.
