Favres passing ability helps open up the run

It takes two to tango you know. Favre has to throw to someone.

Exactly who is it on this team that is the great long threat that you say is in position regularly to catch a long pass, but Favre keeps missing?

Back to the receivers fault. Got it.

I understand in the bizzaro world of the Brettford Wives that its always the pass opening up the run. But in the world of real football, the run opens up the pass more then the pass opens up the run.

There is no way the Jets are 9-5 right now and looking at a playoff game without Favre. Do you guys remember how brutally bad the coaching was last year in terms of the QB position? I don't think I've ever seen a coach do such a bad job of handling the available talent at the position as Mangini did last year. He nearly destroyed two careers, a veteran and a young guy. That has to be some kind of record.

Favre bailed him out this year big time because he took the toughest decision a coach has to make and turned it into a no-pressure no-brainer. Mangini would be a quivering lump of jelly by now if he had to navigate the Chad vs Clemens thing again but with the added pressure of the free agent spending.

If the Phins win the division, it will be because of their defense (and our defense) -- not because of their offense. Or ours, probably (unless we get the best of that defense).

Once again, just how many more points does our offense need to score than they already do -- #2 in points scored -- to be considered "better" than the Phins offense -- 6th from bottom in total points scored? And why does a 2 yard run at the end of a drive that had 50 yards of passing not count towards good QB play? I've never understood the focus on what the final play of a TD drive is (run or pass), with no recognition of how it the team got there. People who focus on stuff like that are usually the fantasy football types who care more about stats than how the 98% of the game that happens between the goal lines is played.

If anything, all else being equal the Phins should be scoring more points than us, given they have half of their games in generally better weather (you do agree that good weather favors more offense, right? We don't have to debate the basics too, do we?)

No, Play calling and design. Same problem Chad/Kellen had last year. I like Chad and hated to see him go to Miami, but he is no Favre.

I am shocked and amazed by the responses here. Don't you all realize that the only position on the field that matters is the QB? The other 23 guys are just filler. We'd have the same game next Sunday if we just lined Brett and Chad up and had them run at each other.

Clearly, QB play determines a team's fate. 100%. How else could you explain that the only two undefeated teams left in the league are the Saints and Cardinals with the top 2 QBs for this season?

I didn't say it was anyone's fault. I just asked you to tell me who it is that's out there open to catch these balls that you say Favre should be throwing.

Because when he does throw, some get intercepted, and then what I hear from people like you is "WTF is he doing throwing into tight/double coverage?"

You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't scream that Favre needs to thrwo more long, then bellyache when he does it and gets picked off because he's either hit as he throws (not enough protection), or the receiver does not have enough separation and/or makes a less-than-half-assed effort to go for the ball when it's up for grabs.

Is it not telling that Clowney has played exactly one play this season yet I think he has as many long receptions as the other receivers have playing almost full time the last three games?

Or should we conveniently "leave out" that one play with Clowney too, like you like to do with your stats?

Or the 25 yard strike to Coles, Immediately preceding Leons monster run.

or when they stack the box and he hits an outside guy 3 steps off the line (You know, the ball that goes for 6 the other way when Ole Noodle arm slings it out there..)

I have made a few posts critical of the decision to get favre, I have always felt that Pennington was not the problem and favre was not the answer... With that being said, i now don't see the decision as a mistake. clearly on a one year basis regardless of how much i like Pennington and how pleased i am for him personally at his success. favre has been good, and could be allot better if our coaching staff didn't suck.. mangini and schott are in way over there head and there non sense of a unique game plan each week is just confusing and downright stupid...favre has been better than i thought and would be and would be alot better under real coaches. ..regardless of what we do and if we win the division, i think our coaching staff needs to all go. I know that seems impossible if we win the division, but there terrible and there killing the team... I don't know who the answer is and who we could get.. but these band of idiots all need to go... favre been good. Thats allot for me to say considering i wrote post after post past 15 weeks ago about what a disaster he was gonna be... i was wrong! the only disaster in the nyj orginization is mangini and his squad of idiots..

Apparently you were too young to watch the 1999-2000 Rams.
