I compared how often they were on the field having to do with how talent they offered How is that not valid? He had the worst ypc of 3 backs on the same team
In the last ten years name me one single player who has left BBs system and excelled. Just one. In fact the only player overall to not completely crash and burn leaving his system is Seymour. It's easy to look good when you know every single play the other team does before the do it. It's not been a good value to pick up ex pats this decade.
Peyton Hillis could be a good signing since his value went way down last year. If we can't get a FA running back for cheap, we should address in the draft.
5 mill/yr is a pretty penny still. That said were obviously clearing cap presumably to get in the Peyton sweepstakes, if we fail on him we should have a ton of cap free. Hillis definitely isnt on my wish list, but who knows
I don't agree about Kevin Smith at all, guy is as injury prone as can be. Carries isn't the same as snaps. Law Firm was the "feature" back, for lack of a better term (since NE doesn't really have a feature back, ever). They cheated for years - have you forgotten Spygate? Ha, Leon Washington had his moments, and was a fan favorite, but he wasn't a big-time back. Eh, I am not a fan of Hillis. I hope we don't go and spend the money it's going to take to bring him here.
Yeah kevin smith is certainly somewhat injury prone, which is why he offers excellent talent for the price. Look what hes done when hes played, hes been terrific, and considering we have 3 other backs, thats def a risk worth taking
Being a ground and pound team just seems to me we don't need scat back. We need a mauler. A hammer. A 240+ pound killing machine. Break-away speed not needed. A north-south bowling ball in a full back's body. Brain fart on the name of that RB on Tampa Bay for years, now retired. THAT GUY. Or John 'fucking don't get in my way' Riggins. Smash him into the d-line, LB's, safeties, and DB's 15-20 times a game. Then mix in Greene and McKniight another 20 times a game. We want a RB that the 'other guy' is definitely afraid to tackle one-on-one. We want a RB that will destroy the bicep muscle of any a D-lineman that dares to try and arm tackle him. Can't be a ground and pound unless we're grinding and pounding someone.
Cant name many of them, cuz theyre rare in this passing era. Think mike alscott is guy youre thinking Terrance Gannaway is closest thing to that in the draft, i desperately hope we get em in the 4th
mike alstott is the guy you are thinking of. i would rather a talented guy who can consistently get you 5 yards per carry and put you in 2nd and middle to short range. big guys just dont last long in the league anymore now that its steroidsville.
Law Firm won't really be an improvement. Greene had 1,000 yards last year with a crap line. It's also time to promote McKnight to LT's role. There's also Powell and Connors. RB is not a pressing need in fee agency.
I would just draft Martin and be done with it, that is off course T Rich doesnt fall to us or we go a different direction in the draft....
I don't think any of this matters because I find it hard to believe we'll go RB in the FA at all. We just don't have the money and have way too many other needs to even consider it an option unless we free up some serious cap space.
