I am a little bit old fashioned and prefer to wait 3 years to pass judgement on whether a player is a bust or not. Personally, I have seen enough flashes from Adams that him making a Pro Bowl or 2 along the way is not crazy. He is, by no means, anywhere near a finished product at this point, few are, so let's let the kid play for a few seasons first. IMO, to call him a bust after 14 games is as silly as declaring him Canton bound after the same amount of games...
Some of these comparisons are ridiculous. Troy Polamalu didn't even start a game as a rookie. Ronnie Lott started, but as a CB, so not really comparable. Ed Reed was better. He had 5 Ints, while Adams has 0. Adams has 2 fumble recoveries, though, to Reed's 0. Plus Reed fumbled one of those INTs. Reed had more passes defensed, too. The last rookie safety to have a better stat line that I see was Eric Berry, and Adams plays well the next two weeks, he'll be very close to matching, other than INTs.
Jethro is a damn troll Most of the safeties taken after him aren't asked to play 3-4 different spots on the field. Even Maye who has been employed mostly as the "FS" Or center fielder doesn't do as much as Adams. So to say he's a bust is ridiculous and not seeing what he does or can do on that field is simply not watching the games. He plays as a 3rd LB, a slot corner and has blitzed a bit, not to mention playing "some FS". He's worn a lot of hats. Gotta give him the benefit of the doubt.
