Adam Shefter:Sanchez impresses...

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by onefanjet, Jun 12, 2013.

  1. If Sanchez chops the turnovers in half I'll be happy. Sure it's ugly northeast football..but that's been the jets offense for a long time. He's proven he can make game winning throws. Jets will never have a top 10 completion % w/ him at the helm..but w/ this running game & Rex's D..games can be won.

It seems like they are gonna ask alot of Geno if/when he becomes the #1. If that's the case let the kid sit & learn.

I'll evaluate the Sanchez - Smith battle in pre-season. Everything that's happening now is totally meaningless.

Stupid fans say things like '27th ranked but top 10 best'. I'm hardly a stupid fan for thinking Mark Sanchez is not a good quarterback

Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith haven't separated, Jets QB coach David Lee says

"... I don’t know why they’re both doing it at the same time. Maybe it’s a reflection on me. Maybe I’m screwing it up somehow, but they won’t separate right now."

    ...

"We will continue to look at both of them, split reps, and as soon as we know ‘Hey, he’s the guy’ we’ll let you know. But right now we don’t know."

Intelligent fans are able to watch games and have a better understanding of it, the stupid ones rely solely on rankings and stats. There isn't an intelligent fan that thinks mark sanchez was the 27th best QB in the league in 2010 but the rankings say so, so to you it must be true! I feel bad for people who cannot think for themselves. That must really suck,

Have you thought about becoming a lawyer? Your passive agressiveness is really something else.

Hey, the font is really creative, but....what else can Lee say, thats the company line.

Adam Schefter saw it just a little differently.

P.S. in the same article Lee points out, that Sanchez is working on protecting the ball while dropping back.

Smith, is struggling through the basics. And thats not a jab at Smith, guy played mostly in the Gun, and is a rookie, where Sanchez played WCO in college.

Whats amusing about you Genomaniacs, is how many wanted him to sit behind Garrard for a bit, now that he pulled up lame, Smith needs to start...

Not even closely as flawed as the premise of your post.

It really isn't Schefter's opinion at all. And Schefter is far from an analyst, he is just a reporter. Same as all of those goofball Jets beat writers tweeting their vague accounts of the OTA.

Schefter clearly states at the beginning of the segment that he was told that Sanchez was impressive.

And since there is no way to tell who told Schefter this, there is no way to judge the validity.

Then again, people on thus forum are hanging on the every vague word of our beat writer morons, and Schefter has always had great sources, so I tend to believe something he was told over something our beat weenies say on Twitter nine times out of ten.

Bingo. 100% on the money. Your response reflects my feelings exactly. i expected more from Sanchez for absolute sure. Geno is a nubi totally unfamiliar with the West Coast Offense. his learning curve will be much longer. People that want to give Geno a start now with a sink or swimm attitude would be destroying his ability to at least master the fundamentals and to make him confident and decisive before he steps on the field. In short we would put him in a position to fail unless he is able to pick up the complexities on the fly.

To give Geno credit, he has picked up 3 different systems in college each year he was there and improved every year... Going from a pro-style system year 1 to Dana Holgorsen's "air raid" type systems the next two. With that said, Im sure the WCO is a lot harder to learn and I would still be very surprised if he's mastered it by the start of the season. He has a great work ethic, so there's hope.

I also think its a real possibility that if he were to start, he would be eased in- the playbook would be limited at first, and then begin to open up as the season goes on (similar to what the Seahawks did with Wilson).

what perspective? russell wilson and geno smiths situations are so completely different its absurd to make a comparison.

lets just talk about russell wislon's situation... he went in the third round to a team that had a starter who had posted his best numbers in his career the season before with an injury for half the season, won the admiration of the locker room, but wasnt good enough to secure the job. the team then signed the exciting up and comer matt flynn to a huge deal, which penciled him into the starting role. so they draft a qb in the third round to be their backup and compete in camp. he comes into camp, and starts to impress the staff, working his way from 3rd string to starter

now geno smith... second round pick to a team with a highly questionable incumbent qb with no firm grip on the job and whom is the recipient of intense vitriol from the fans, a new offensive system being installed, and an aging vet that retired due to injury before the start of camps. so geno smith now sits at number two on the depth chart, where he is in direct competition for the starting job with a 4 year starting qb whose reputation pins him as among the worst in the league.

    yeh, so similar.

So Schefter is right but the guy coaching them isn't

We wont know who's the guy until pre-season games, let Cimini and BSPN create reports

Thats my thinking as well, We won't have a winner till august cometh.

If it was decided they would have said it was, theres no point in delaying or hiding that fact so much that your splitting first team reps.

If Smith was out they would just say "we think he should sit this season, Sanchez will be the starter until further notice."

But apparently we're just blind and aren't seeing the situation correctly.

They're so ready to hide the obvious fact that Sanchez is the starter that they give a statement thats supposedly an obvious sign that they are doing so away!

Did anyone actually watch that ESPN segment posted on page one?

Schefter didn't do anything but regurgitate the details of one of his sources. He is not an analyst and in this case it not even pretending to be one.

    What the fuck?

    When 7 comes after a 6, you've crapped out.
