Seriously, the guy's been considered a legitimate contender for #1 overall pick TWO YEARS IN A ROW! You must take him if he's there.
I would be thrilled to get Leinart at 4, then we can go Mangold/McNeil at 29/35 and build our O-Line that way, or Tamba Hali with one of those picks if we want an end, or LenDale White or Maroney at 29 if we want to draft a top RB. So many options!
HB doesn't need to be addressed yet.. History says a franchise QB outlasts a HB..HBs are a dime a dozen. Look at Denver i'd personally like to see more of Cedric Houston.. I liked what he showed in the few games he started
Doesn't it tell you something that Chow does not want Leinart?????? It says volumes to me. If Leinart is Mr. Wonderful, then why isn't the man that coached him screaming for the Titans to take him???? And for them to take another QB over him is even more telling. Chow knows Leinart as well as anybody. If he doesn't want him, the Jets shouldn't take him either. Trade down or take Ferguson if that happens.
We TRADED for Ramsey so that we had someone to compete with Chad for this season and this season alone. He has one year left on his contract. Also if he doesn't win the starting job e becomes the backup QB, so that way Matt will never have to see the field. (See Carson Palmer for example) Carson Palmer was drafted and didn't take a SINGLE snap that year. Jon Kitna won comeback player of the year and won 8 games with the Bengals. Carson was then given the job and the rest is history. Just because we have Chad Pennington and Pat Ramsey doesn't mean you pass up on... 1- the best player available 2- the best QB available I hate debating with you because all you say when we talk about the draft is trade down and take Deangelo Williams.
Norm Chow isn't the General Manager. Norm is probably begging for Leinart, but it isn't his decision. Floyd Reese and Jeff Fischer are the main guys...Norm will probably share his opinions, but his opinions will not alter their strategy completely.
fair point...but it could also be a situation where the titans brass says "hey norm shut up,we're taking young"
I wish this was true, but it is not. Why do you think it is? I want to hear your opinion. It may change mine.
How do you know Norm Chow does not want Leinart? When was the last time that an OC made the draft choices. The talk is that Reese is the guy that loves Young and he is the guy that makes the decisions. So don't just assume that if Tenn takes Young that Chow doesn't want him.
"Beause apparently we have no weaknesses, we will draft Deangelo Williams and start whomever at QB...I mean QB isn't an important position! 13-3!" Something like that...
This is easy.... if Matt Lineart is there at #4 you don't waste anytime getting the card up to the commish with his name on it.
I'm pretty convinced that the Saints are going to trade down from #2. I think it may take a trade to get Leinart on the Jets, unless the Titans really want Young over Leinart.
seriously if this plays out and leinart fall to #4. every jet fan better be screaming leinart's name at the draft. just like they were doing for justin miller last year.
if the saints want mario.. and trade out of #2 and give away leinart to another team.. they wont be getting mario williams the furthest they could go is #4
