Gibril Wilson got cut by Miami in what seems like a move to go after Rolle. I know Wilson isnt good at coverage, but hes a solid tackler, young, healthy and available.
Of course not, that would be f***in' stupid. It seemed many on this forum thought we might land Rolle, which would have fit nicely if management actually had/has plans to move Rhodes. Therefor, a few questions/thoughts occurred to me, so I brought them up as a point of discussion. Make sense?
A tackling MACHINE, it would seem... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=5661 YEAR TEAM G TOT SOLO AST PD SACK FF REC INT YDS TD 2004 NYG 8 56 49 7 5 3.0 1 0 3 39 0 2005 NYG 16 112 90 22 4 3.0 2 0 2 36 0 2006 NYG 15 103 77 26 10 0.0 3 0 2 25 0 2007 NYG 13 92 78 14 7 0.0 0 0 4 12 0 2008 OAK 16 129 96 33 4 1.5 1 0 2 5 0 2009 MIA 16 93 73 20 8 1.0 0 0 0 0 0 Career 84 585 463 122 38 8.5 7 0 13 117 0
Yep same thing was on nfl fanhouse. Makes me wonder how the hell this is gonna work since the giants JUST drafted Kenny Phillips in the 1st round in 2008. I cant see them cutting him, but he had a serious injury so idk. Maybe one of them would play SS ? Or Rolle at corner ? It just sounds strange move to me, should be interesting to see how it plays out.
They have no one else to play next to Phillips. He'll fill the FS role(damn it!) and Kenny Phillips will slide over to SS. Phillips can cover but he he also has the ability to play inside the box and blitz. Rolle will play the deep coverage and the Giants will have Phillips roving to different spots on the field depending on down, distance, and play. EDIT: Shit, I didn't know it was a bone-on-bone condition in Phillip's knee. Well, more of a reason to go after Rolle.
