We'll just have to agree to disagree. First, ANY play will work SOME times. Sort of the old "Put a monkey in a room with a keyboard and if you wait long enough he'll produce legible text" effect. Second, why would you have plays in your active playbook that your players aren't capable of executing? You know, if you look at the people who usually succeed, it's not the smartest ones usually, it's the ones who can take the ideas from the smartest ones and get others to execute them. Maybe Gase IS the "smartest guy in the room", but that doesn't make him a good coach, head or otherwise.
You know what happens in all those movies when the bad guy knows his time is almost up? Goes into Desperado mode and he'll try anything to survive. That's gasey boy and his trusty compadre Dowell. Time to walk the plank boys!
He shouldve done this last season.I suggested way back when that he might be better off in a CEO role, heavily involved in offense but not calling plays. It’s too late for him now though.Whether ownership brings him back next yr or not..this fan base & roster are done w him
How can you say that? His O has been and is a bottom feeder in the league except for Dev and it took PM calling audibles on everyplay to make it work.
This stat is kind of shocking to me. I know our offensive line is still a work in progress but being the worst pass blocking team? I think we at minimum look better than last year(I know that’s not saying too much), but i don’t know what more Douglas could have done to fix the offensive line this year. Perhaps we could have spent a ton on Conklin or Glasgow but they’re not that much better than we have at least when the $$ factors in.
The poorous skillls contribute to this as well.Cant run quick timing routes to loosen up box & no one takes off top of D to get DBs to back off
Its the same tory year after year after year. They can be competitive for a quarter or 2, however, once they fall behind, they basically quit. Last week, up 10-0, quit in the second half. You'll see today, they may be competitive for 5 or 10 minutes but once it's 7-0 or 14-0, they will basically just stop playing.
1. Every O-lineman that we shipped out is statistically better with their new team. 2. Every O-lineman that we brought in is statistically worse than with their previous team. The Jets online is bottom of the league; different players, same results. Gase should not be calling plays. Gase should not be designing plays.
I get it. Gase needs to adjust his plays to the players he has. But.....how do you design pass plays for WRs who can't get open? Is there a pass play for TEs who drop wide open passes? How do you design a 20yrd seem rout when your QB has less than 1 second to get the ball off? How do you design a run play when the RB gets taken down behind the LOS? Most TD drives require 8-10-12 plays in a row. Gase is lucky if he can pull ONE play out of his ass with this group.
Only the Jet owners are delusional enough to think Gase has a future with this franchise. Therein lies the problem.
The answer is you DON'T design those plays because you don't have the personnel to run them. If that means you have your playbook shrunken down to a handful of plays, so be it. Then practice those plays until the guys you have can execute them to perfection. Gase keeps trying to blood out of a stone. Only a pigheaded egomaniac would do that.

He lost them in training camp!!!! He sucks ad a coach. I give the players credit for fighting for pride. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gase hasn’t lost the team to his credit. But all these guys are on one year deals so they have to play hard for their career.
I got the feeling that's what happened in our last game against Buff. Simplified palybook. Worked great for a half! Maybe we need just a few more simplified plays.
