This. CMan has probably been the most vocal and out in front of this for years. But until the Jets decide to hire a President of Football Ops (not a club president the presides over the business side) and goes to a more traditional linear reporting structure of Owner to President to GM to coach, then we can expect the same results for this team until the end of time.

Organizational structure and leadership is #1, #1a and #1b for success. Unless you have a WELL established football guy/coach like Beli/Pete Carroll etc, the reporting structure the Jets carry is a death sentence.

If that happens, I'm officially done as a Jets fan.

What the picture doesn't show is that Manning's right hand is up Gase's ass making his lips move. No Manning, no one to direct what Gase says.

The only positive I can take from Johnson's endorsement of Gase is that these usually result in the person being fired shortly after. Let's hope history repeats.

Just like Chris Johnson is “fully confident” in Gase as he is a “brilliant” offensive mind, I am “fully confident” in my “brilliant” mind that I will be telling this team to F right off if Gase isn’t fired at the end of the season.

I’m judging Gase and Darnold the same this year....Everything is far from perfect for both of these guys but we need improvements and competency in the things they can control

I try to keep an open mind on Gase as I honestly do believe he’s pretty knowledgeable but eventually it needs to show itself on the field here. He just may not be cut out to be a head coach because of a few character flaws, but time will soon tell

Not a good start for Gase, that's for sure.

Darnold looked horrendous. Part of that was the play calling, but a large part was Darnold's inability to find open receivers, make accurate throws, and make smarter decisions.

While Gase needs to have a much better game plan in place, Darnold also needs to be able to take control of the game. If the playcall sucks, audible. If you scramble, find an open receiver. Make plays as a franchise QB. You're in your third damn year!

How bad are things when your coach needs a “vote of confidence” after week 1.

    I found two:

    1. "I do continue to believe that Gase is a brilliant offensive mind".
    2. "I believe he can work with and develop QBs".

    Do I win?

If Gase is fired at years end, one guy I can see being hired (not necessarily for or against) is Marvin Lewis.

    -HC experience
-Joe D and him go back to the Baltimore days, which is clearly a thing for him
    -Stable leader and respected...no drama
-Well known and can put together a staff

Again, not saying I love it, but you have to think of candidates that are realistic and make sense.

In the bleakness and hopelessness of the current situation, I can completely understand your (and others) desire to float names of replacement HCs, but I've been down this road too often, and will not begin to give myself false hopes until the current terrible HC is fired. I was clamoring for Bowles to be fired for three years, knowing that he wasn't a good HC (and calling for Macc to be fired as well for the same reason - incompetence), and yet, the Clueless Brothers not only didn't fire them, they EXTENDED them! So go ahead and fan your flickering hope with dreams of a different HC, but the reality is we're stuck with the bug eyed self-proclaimed "offensive genius" until the Johnsons wake up and man up and admit their mistake.

I have inclination to think, is If we shit the bed rivaling the Buffalo disaster, Gase may be a goner. The vote of confidence was basically a last chance...
