I think it’s fair to say both chased the money. I’m pretty sure Mosley only signed here because he couldn’t turn down the contract offer. Something like $2-3 mil more per year over five years than the Ravens were offering. I’ll try to find the story.
I truly think we have a stronger front office than we ever have, along with an incredible defensive staff. It's sad that I don't have any faith in the offensive side of the football. Not a fan of Gase, not because I don't think he's intelligent, but because I think he lacks leadership. In my opinion, he's the perfect offensive coordinator/QB coach. It's looking like we are going to have an abundance of cap space going into next year. IF Gase doesn't show he can lead the team this year and show improvement--I think CJ needs to put Joe D, Hymie Elhai and Phil Savage in charge of leading a coaching search. I think our front office, cap space and Sam Darnold make this a solid destination.
you mean Bell that gase the offensive genius never played correctly, and there was talk he would be traded, and Mosely who played 3/4s of yr and was injuried. I am not blaming Mosely for being hurt but be real. If someone was over paying you and you had limited choices you would make the same choice. My hope is gase learns how to use Bell effectively.
Not the point. They came here knowing Gase was the head coach. Everything that happened after is kinda irreverent?
If players truly don't want to be here, they'll take less to play on a more desired team. It's happened before. If he were healthy, this trash team would've been in the playoffs last year.
I don't totally disagree, but it sure wouldn't have been because of the side of the ball that Gase ran.
No because we over paid for both basically and do you think after wasting a yr by sitting out Bell would have wanted to be miss used o take less somewhere else to show the Steelers they were wrong in their evaluation of him? I work where I work because I get paid good money could I make more yes but there is a work life balance I take into account. In these players cases they are setting up their family for a generation or 2 if not longer so they suck it up playing in a bad situation for money. They are balancing the over paying for playing for gase, Gase is simply not a good head coach is not a winner and his persona is not attracting free agents. If he was winning stuff would be over looked but he isn't. So the question is would we have been better off not overpaying last yr and having more money this yr to overcome for Gase's personality if that is part of the cause. We would have had the same issues last yr with or without these players. So if they are here why not use them correctly (in Bells case)
Yeah it would be in spite of the offense for sure ...I mean think about it, we went 7-9 right? You don't think we beat BUF week 1 with Mosley still in the game? Jacksonville game? Our defense got destroyed, maybe we perform better defensively against the Bengals too if Mosley was there to get the defense in position.
Sorry but as I indicated earlier, if players truly don't want to be here, they'll take less to play on a more desired team. It's happened before. Say what you will about Gase, but Bell and Mosley 2 big FAs came here. That's all I am saying, everything that happened after is moot.
I think we definitely hold on and beat the Bills. Hard to say against Jacksonville... I don't know that one guy would have made the difference. Cincy, no chance. That was a complete and utter botch by Gase. Going up against the worst run defense in the league, he barely gives Bell the ball. Drops galore on offense. Giving up pressure. It was an offensive disaster. Defense was bad too but Mosley wouldn't have changed the outcome of that one.
if players are leaving cause of Gase ,that's a good thing. these players have sucked and obviously roster turnover is necessary
Yeah maybe we generate a few turnovers against that Bengals offense with Mosley. Its just crazy the min Mosley left the Bills game, I've never seen something fall apart so quickly.
It was absolutely baffling. It seemed like all of a sudden every area of the field was wide open. Wasn't Frank fucking Gore gashing us for ten yards a carry?
The problem is that if we improve our personnel as expected, we might well win a few more games and make the playoffs (although the schedule looks pretty hard right now so we may even win fewer games even with better talent). But that just means that Gase likely keeps his job which is bad because he will never be a SB-caliber coach. It will take several years, as it did with Bowles for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to figure this out by which time our personnel will be older and the "Sam Window" closing.
I disagree. Gase has not shown himself to be intelligent or a good offensive coordinator/QB coach. Every year he didn't have Peyton to call the plays for him, his offenses have been terrible.
Strange phenomenon is occurring on "Gasemeter" on the home page of TGG. While the score has been hovering between 12 and 20 for the past month it is suddenly up to 30. Have the Jets won any games? Has the offensive game plan showed marked improvement? Has the team conditioning and overall health improved? Are they working better together as a cohesive unit? I don't think so. Is Gase getting credit for the general optimistic approval of the draft actions of Joe Douglas?
