Where does Gase being amazingly insecure come from? He doesn't seem to give two shits what anyone thinks of him or says about him. Just carries on and does his own thing regardless and doesn't feel the need to justify his actions. I'd say that was the opposite of being insecure personally.
When isn't Gase being insecure. When he lies at press conferences to pretend he didn't support things to make himself look better for example when he acted like he was for resigning Myers after he was on record against resigning him. Or let's say when he refuses to take responsibility and blames players. Or let us say when he attacks fans and implies they are worse than him because he said he is super rich. Or maybe Gase being told by the FO early in the year he needed to stop picking fights with the media and be less combative. Or maybe a press conference after one of his losses (i think it was the bengal game) where he covered his head with a hood so no one could see his face and mumbled answers trying not to be heard. Take your pick. The book on Gase before he got here was that he was incredibly smart but so amazingly insecure that he constantly needed to prove on how smart he is to other people. This has been Gase on a daily basis as Jets coach. A constant need to prove to others how smart he is. I agree Gase is the smartest dumbass in the building. Gase is the definition of insecure. If he could just get himself and his ego out of his way he would likely have a much easier time.
Do you have any legitimate non Manish Mehta sources on any of this? Watch his press conferences in entirety and don't just read the headlines. He takes blame for things. The wild cat play for example. It's just not reported on widely so the headline readers such as yourself aren't aware of it. He's a dickhead with the media. Who cares? Everyone attacking his personality is such a whiney little girl about it. He's a football coach, not a middle school ballet teacher. He's rough around the edges. That's ok in this sport.
Amen to that. Love or hate Gase it is rapidly becoming apparent at least to me that: a) half of what is being reported and /or fabricated about Gase is nonsensical, unsubstantiated BS based on personal feelings, or quoting one liners by some asshole twitter and b) Metha is the worst POS reporter ever in the annals of the NYJ. Yet some take his trash as gospel and use it as ammunition to make a case against the Jets.
If you want to blame Gase's war with the media on media types like Manish, etc that's an easy copout. How about all the injured guys that had issues with the team this year? Or the Bell nonsense and other big-name players he ran out of Miami? Hell as much as we like it on a certain level, Gase also does have Maccagnan's blood on his hands. Gase is not some angel only being victimized by the media.
If you just judge Adam Gase by what we see on the field...during games.... -Playcalling. -Time management. -Adjustments. It's a fail. He sucks at all of it. If there ever comes a time where we have the players on the team that can compete... ...the shit listed above will keep us from winning the trophy.
There wasn't a reason they gave, but there's a reason that many Jets fans understand that doesn't have to be stated...that is that the Johnsons are utter morons and don't know the first thing about football or running a team.
I liked Harper and Madden, especially Madden. Never could stand Myers. Gola's name sounds familiar, but I can't remember him. What team/sport did he cover?
One has to wonder the ramifications of what happened here. It appears a Jets employee may have tried to ruin a reporters career possibly at the direction of the head coach. Will the Daily News sue? Will they ask the NFL to investigate? Should we be worried about losing draft picks?
You are probably right. It is getting no coverage right now. I think it is up to Manish and the Daily News as to whether they want to make a big deal about it. If they let it go it will likely go away but if they make public accusations then all the news outlets will pick it up and suddenly it could become a big deal. Very weird to have to hope that Manish does something to help the Jets.
What are the facts involved that lead to your questions above? Not questioning, just interested in what you have as hard evidence to ask any of those questions?
He did use the words "appears," "may have" and "possibly;" he didn't claim anything as facts. Asking questions is how you accumulate information on which to develop an informed opinion. I appreciate his approach far more than those who simply believe and argue everything or nothing on a topic depending on their own views rather than any available evidence.
