The defense has won us 6 games. Offense only does enough to keep us in games... if Gase coached the defense we would be in a world of hurt. Good thing he has nothing to do with it.

What you witnessed in this game was classic Gase. Why wouldn't you let your hopeful-FQB do more? They're very lucky that last pass got batted away or it would've been a gut wrenching loss.

As to possibly being 7-9, first they have to win next week, not in any way certain. Second, this was one of the easier schedules they could've had, especially with the short travel distances. Third, if Gase were a better coach, they might've actually been above .500 and still in the hunt.

I'm still as skeptical of Gase as anyone...but it's not easy to get a team who was out of it at 1-7 to still be competitive and show some life going 5-2 down the stretch. Todd Bowles lost a locker room THREE GAMES into his second season, Gase seemingly never has other than some squirrely stuff around injured players.

Not to mention reports that are posted on this site about "anonymous players" saying he lost the locker room and the Ed Reed twitter video about it. Fact is the defense loves Williams and is playing for him. The defense has been a huge part of every game we have won.

The offense has been just enough to win or keep the game mildly close. Most of the play calling, and you can see it in todays win, has been horrible. Gase hasn't put his players in a great position at all.

Im sure Gase will end up a afailure-well mostly sure but the fact is we really cant complain this year...most people were predicting 7--9. I dont hink we win net week but when you consider the injuries and QB missing all those games plus learning a brand new offense, you cant kill the guy.

I can still say he's a hot bag of ass. Bad part is next year we could be better but his play calling will still be garbage.

play calling otday was the worst ive seen. Im ASSUMING Gase was so conservative cuz he didnt believe Pitt could score enough to win. Which is correct but I dunno...he could just be an idiot

Bengals Game: "Gase needs to run the ball more. Get Le'Veon Bell involved and lean on him?!?"

Steelers Game: "Why wouldn't Gase let his franchise QB go win him the game and throw the ball??"

It's really dueling dragons with the narratives. They're the #4 defense and the #5 passing defense in the league and the #2 turnover forcing defense.

But somehow the game plan and the win was not satisfactory for some because we didn't win 42-10.

Yeah Gase really needs to give up the playcalling but he won't since he's basically got GM power and his offensive genius rep is why he keeps getting jobs.

All the critics are forgetting three important things:

    1. Belichik set Darnold up with a tweaking ho in training camp. (Must be, mono doesn't happen by accident in the NFL...)

    2. Mike Maccagnon drafted no offensive linemen of worth in 5 drafts which has to be an NFL record.

    3. The Jets owner/media dictated strategy this year was a marketing based "win the off-season" campaign that included signing star RB's and slot receivers and NO quality free agent offensive linemen.

I was all for firing Gase at mid-season because you can win 4 games in the NFL rolling out of bed without even trying and it looked like they were headed for 3-13 at that point. The second half gives him an out in my opinion, a mulligan for one more season. It isn't easy to go 5-2 over any 7 game stretch in the NFL. The Bengals loss was a disaster but it was an NFL starting QB finally getting back on the field for them and anything can happen in those games.

Darnold gets a complete pass on the year. It started out incomplete after his roll in the hay with Belichik's plant but the supporting cast around him has really sucked except for Crowder, Anderson and Griffin. You really do need more than a few roleplayers to make things work in the NFL. Star QB prospect, 3 or 4 decent roleplayers and a mound of garbage on the offensive side of the ball. Gase also gets some credit here because the personnel on that side of the ball is that bad.

Dont care how many games Gase wins i will never want him here...He will never win us a Superbowl. He doesnt have the DNA of a Superbowl winning coach or even a winning coach for that matter and The Johnsons look so bad for making this hire to begin with.

    Two words: "Luke Falk"

Vince Lombardi wouldn't win with Luke Falk and this bunch of stiffs on the OL.

The defense has the same issues as the offense but the defense is playing good enough football to remain competitive. We are using 3rd string linebackers and corners for most of the season. Quinen Williams and Adams have missed games. We may have more injuries on defense overall. But they remain the best part of this team. Gase is a moron and shouldn't be coaching little league.

Is there a coach in the league worse at adjusting and game planning than Adam Gase? I heard Bart Scott and the studio SNY crew annihilating him for going away from what worked: short and quick. It’s probably because he’s fucking awful.

also please stop with the “oh first he doesn’t run enough then you want him to call more passes”. That’s a lame straw man. It’s situational playcalling, and he’s horrendous at it.

Williams beat him. Not Gase. Gase almost lost it several times with his crap calls. Our defense won this.

The only reason Jets won today is because of bad QB play from the Steelers, it has been their Achilles heel all year, Mason Rudolph sucks and was benched because of how bad he was performing, he came in and started looking like a veteran against the jets.

Typical Steelers offense is ranked top 5 with an average of 27.0 points a game, this year Steelers are bottom 3rd in NFL on offense.
