Sam played better because he was connecting on his back foot throws and his contorted body throws. He looks like he's putting more zip on the ball. It's hard to blame him because he was still sacked 7 friggain times, but what he needs to get better at is the simple things. He did it at times yesterday but just get the balls in the hands of the receivers. Know when you should take a shot and when you shouldn't. If the receiver running the out gets a yard or two of separation in man coverage then he needs to be hit with the pass immediately. Every time, no questions asked. It's an easy four yard gain that can turn into a first down if he makes a man miss. And he's been doing that early on in the game. Later in the game I counted at least 2x when he had it with Crowder out of the slot and he didn't throw it. In zone coverage our HS football coach used to call it a tits and ass read. If you see the tits throw it to the flats, if he turns and runs with it throw it in behind to the slant. Simplify the game Sam! Our running game blows and the offensive line blows. Those plays need to act as our running game. But don't get away from it. His footwork will also improve with a cleaner pocket so I don't blame him so much for that. It's tough man. To consistently fight at 3rd + 12 and try to move the ball.
Won't happen, there was no miracle turnaround. It was a bad team having a good day and squeaking by another bad team. There will be additional bad days going forward.
Darnold looked much calmer when under pressure than he has in the last 3 weeks, which is more of a praise to Sam and his mental toughness than it is to Gase.
Evidence is used to prove who did the crime. It's usually not needed when no crime has been committed.
First of all the Giants defense is bad. Second, Sam's problem has never been his average throw. It's that he's prone to making a couple really bad throws almost every game that get intercepted. But since a couple is still a small number, there will be games like this one that he doesn't have bad throws. But that doesn't mean he's changed, and odds are he's going to have plenty more terrible throws later this season.
Gase likely won’t go anywhere for one simple reason. The voice of the most important Jet doesn’t want him to go anywhere and unless that changes Gase will be back next year and no amount of money wasted on planes will change that.
Sticking with Gase is going to set us back even further...I really dont know what else to say at this point.I dont like him,i never wanted him here, never thought he was a good coach or personality for this fanbase. He isnt a good fit here..he would be a better fit in Sasqatoon Canada coaching as an o line coach
Gase hate has already surpassed Bowls hate levels in only a half season. Things did look good for Bowles early. Gase breaks the streak of Jets head coaches having good first seasons.
Just wait till the Raiders game. Although don't be surprised if the Jets make Washington look like a playoff team next Sunday...
Don't make the mistake of thinking that which is declared for public consumption represents the reality of any situation. This is true of every facet of life, not just football.
Maybe he needs to hire a clock manager like Herm did (Dick Curl) and a bench coach like in baseball to advise him on in game decisions.
Sadly I agree with this,,,,The Jets won their Super Bowl last Sunday The Johnsons and powers that be are probably doing cartwheels that the Jets beat the pathetic Giants in a meaningless game. This is how it works in Jet land you settle for moral victories and treat meaningless games and The Draft and Free Agency as if they are the Super Bowl
That’s true, what Darnold says privately can be very different than what he says publicly. If it’s not though then this board is gonna meltdown cause Gase will be back next year.
I'm old enough to remember when Pete Carroll was the youngest HC in the NLF and Shottenheimer was a terrible OC. Carry on.
