ManishMehta1 heh I think that is the truth. we will sign the guy if he is willing to sign to a slim contract.
As I said earlier, they want him to come to us rather than us go to him. He knows we're interested, but only at the right price. Basically, if he wants to play on our defense, and potentially win a Super Bowl, he'll do what he can.
It's amazing how these media outlets will all wildfire a rumor across the internet based on one source. You would never see that in print. They all just reference each other constantly.
Schefter raises a good point....Thomas will be fired up to shove one up Belichick's ass....hopefully he chooses us over the Phins.
Rex Ryan got you that big contract Adalius, return the favor and sign here on the cheap! BTW, did the Pats eat any money cutting him? That could factor into his contract demands
So if he gets a 2 or 3 million dollar contract he's making 6-7 million this year as a backup/rotational player? Ahh the life of a pro football player :shit:
this all seems like smoke screens. no way the jets or dolphins are trying to show too much interest and drive up the price of the guy. I say he ends up a jet tho. he loves rex and rex loves him. he also wants to do nothing more than rush the passer, which is what rex would make him do.
Bus Cook (Thomas's agent) owes the Jets and Tanny one. Tanny allowed for Favre to waltz to the Vikings last year. Cook should return the favor and deliver A. Thomas.
If Rex likes him as much as is being reported, then I expect him to eventually land here. I think this is all posturing by Tanny to not seem overly interested and try to keep his price tag down as some other posters have mentioned. Totally agree with that. The guy can play so many different positions on D that he will really help us with our depth for a year.
thomas will eventually be a jet i think. he is gonna have to realize that his big money days are over. he could have a very big impact on the defense if he signs here but if he doesn't the d will be fine. at this point the jets need thomas a lot less than he needs them so i fully expect them to wait him out and get him for a reasonable price.
Well, here is a direct quote attributed to Tannenbaum as opposed to "sources" or speculation. "April 27, 9:55 a.m.: General manager Mike Tannenbaum said in an interview on WFAN radio Tuesday morning that the Jets could pursue Adalius Thomas "maybe down the line... but really nothing imminent right now." "We're going to stand pat with what we have," Tannenbaum said."Maybe down the line, we'll add a player of two. Nothing on the horizon." " http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/04/free_agent_linebacker_adalius.html I would think Thomas would take the first offer he gets as it may be the only one and it may not be on the table for long. I don't see him coming here.
I've heard this exact wording from Tannenbaum before. 2 days later the Jets had Holmes. I heard it again... 2 days later the Jets had Taylor. I heard it again... Leon traded.... I got the trend down.
I really don't want to derail this thread... but 1050 caught Tannenbaum in a lie, in their interview with him yesterday. It was great. Bonnie Bernstein and LaGreca alternated questions, but Bonnie got him... She asked him about his comments on Leon Washington before he was traded. He went on the record saying Leon will be healthy and ready to play the first day of the season. He also, went on the record saying Leon just started running and his progress is not where it should be. Tannenbaum stuttered and said Leon Washington will be healthy and ready to play game 1 in Seattle. The way he said it though, was definitely without conviction... ...I believe they traded Leon because he will not be ready to play.
The point of this is... I hear Tanny on 1050 so much, I can sort of tell when he's bullshitting now based the history of his actions AND on the mannerisms and delivery of his words regarding future actions.
