I don't like to celebrate the injury of players too much. I wish Thomas well in recovery but.................
“I just know he’s not a Tom Brady, So if it’s not Tom Brady, it shouldn’t be that hard. “You treat him like you treat a backup, how do you prepare for a backup? He don’t get that many snaps, right? So you throw the kitchen sink at him. That’s what we’re going to do.” -Joey Porter This is what we must do.......to that bitch Matt Crappel
Its good news for us, but one thing that has really pissed me off is when A Thomas dropped Farve in week 2 and talked all that shit while he had Farve on the ground. I kinda wanted to see Mangold or TR lay him on his ass. Oh well.....I CANT WAIT FOR THURSDAY!!
Patriots Injuries with Thomas now out the jets need to take advantage og the patriots battered defense. Wilfork will be questionable as well. The Jets jsut have to take care of the ball.
I think fans of other AFC East teams should enjoy this while it lasts. After all of these injuries the Pats are still showing some impressive character to be 6-3 at this point. All of their starters being out this year is going to force younger players on defense to get more playing time and for the offense to feel mortal again. You guys aren't paying attention if you are continuing to call this defense old, because there is a pretty impressive young core emerging with Jerod Mayo, Brandon Merriwether, Gary Guyton, Terrence Wheatley and Jonathan Whilhite. In a year Tom Brady will be back, Moss and Welker will still be around, and the new look defense will have a year of experience under its belt. I'm assuming Guyton, who has looked pretty good at time, is going to replace Thomas. I guess we'll see what happens.
You guys still got a sick front 7, even without AT. Warren/Wilfork/Seymor is as good as it gets, Bruschi is a HOFer, Mayo is on track for DROTY and Vrabel isn´t too shabby either. That´s a lot of things to worry for a OL and whoever is pluged in for AT should/could be able to take advantage of the lack of attention from opposing Gameplans. The pats often showed, that it´s not too hard to get good play out of medicore DBs, when you are running a C2 and have a sick front 7. And those guys, while unexperienced really seem to have some talent. So I really think overall, those Injurys to seemingly Keyplayers didn´t hurt the Pats D all that much.
Excellent post. For some reason, a HUGE talking point from the average NFL pundit (moron) is that the Patriots are "old on defense". (I've heard know-it-all Mike Francesa say this like 123456789 times while listening on wfan.com) It's just not accurate at all. Yes, a lot of their bigger name players are veterans but about half of them are in their primes and the young players you mentioned look promising. They do have a suspect secondary but I mean you can't be strong everywhere. Their front 7 is still sick as hell.
*NOte- this is not aimed at all Jets fans. I like debating with alot of you guys... this is aimed at the wingnut who posted this statement and the handful of others that get giddy over people getting hurt. You folks enjoy the injuries to the Pats and one dude on this thread is wishing serious injury to Wes Welker! Karma IS a bitch, and you guys will never be winners because you think like losers. Instead of focusing on the Pats, you ought to just focus on the Jets and the fact they are playing well, and what a win would do to your playoff hopes. Wishing ill will on others is seriously bad karma.... and classless too.
I never want to see anyone get hurt and wouldn't wish someone to get hurt, so let's get that out of the way. But I'll just mention that how we, the fans, think has no bearing on what the organization does. (And there really is no such thing as karma.)
Bingo. Anyone thinking this will suddenly get a lot easier is on crack. The Pats know how to build and maintain a sick front 7, which is one thing you need to win in this league. That being said, the whole dynamic of this division is different this year and even though the Pats are still a power, all 3 of the other teams are rising with the Jets rising the furthest of all of them thus far to meet with this minor downswing of the Pats. It's really exciting to watch, I'm sure it'll go down to the wire no matter who wins this week.
