That's because he's more worried about being famous than playing football and winning. Which is why I will be completely shocked if the Jets move up to draft him, or even if he falls to #4 and they pick him [unless they trade him that day to someone else for more picks/player(s)]. Quite frankly to me it's say to say Mangini won't want Leinart, and so we won't get him.
I mean i could definetly see Leinhart being avaliable at 4 when we pick. 1. Reggie Bush 2. Mario Williams or D'Brick 3. Jay Cutler 4. Leinart Thats not what I want but i could see it happening.
gotta get lienart. JUST GOTTA DO IT! we need to build this team around a qb. see the word "build", becuase I beleive mangini sees this as a rebuilding effort. If we try to patch more holes immeadiatly, i feel like well be doomed to just being a "good team" not an elite team like we have for the past six years. I do not believe pennington or ramsey can make us an elite team. many scouts believe lienart is the best qb prospect out of college since payton manning. as far as our needs at rb, ot, we have a higher probability of filling those succesfully in the latter rounds. There are five terrel davis', anquan boldins, lavaurnes coles to every tom brady's. 3 or four years from now, i want to be a superbowl caliber team, not a just a "playoff" team like we have in the recent pass. I believe that path starts through matt lienart.
NO NO NO NO NO NO..... We should stay at 4 and 29. We draft ferguson if we dont sign a FA tackle or mario williams if we sign a FA tackle. And grab mangold for the center position, hopefully he is there at 29.
And then there is Cutler the one you fantasied about before this Leinart obsession started while still having our late #1 pick, the difference of talent with the 3 QBs are not enough for trading up to make any sense, and considering the fact that Mangini is Belichick's disciple, it looks much more likely that we'll trade down especially since the value for that pick will increase knowing that at least 1 if not 2 of the QBs will be there
I still like Cutler. In fact I like him at 4 if we dont make a move for Leinart. The reason you never heard me talk about Leinart before was because I didn't think we would have a shot at him...
to be honest, if new orleans stays put and Tenn drafts Cutler or Leinart at 3, we are still in good shape to get a qb. Either Leinart or Cutler will be fine
....NOOOOOOOOOOOO don't even think about this!!!!!!!! Stay put or trade down annd stick with the plann of stockpiling young players with talent and heart.....
I agree with the post we need to rebuild we are getting rid of players that had been here so obviously we are moving on. Unfortunately as much as I wouldve like to see Chad take us to the promise land he can't. Not that he does'nt have the heart or skill it's just not there. Let him pave the way for either Leinart or Cutler. I like the fact that Leinart wants to play for the Jets.
I dont care what ANYONE has to say Leihart Cutler Young freakin Joe Montana, If the guy is laying on his back he is of no use to the Jets O-line O-line O-line
Stay put or trade down. If you really want a QB, draft a guy like Croyle. But, if you build a strong line that can give a guy like Ramsey time (something he never had in Washington), he may surprise us all.
Matt Leinert is the most NFL-ready QB of any QB in recent memory. He played and EXCELLED at the best program in the nation and against some of the best competition in the nation. His winning percentage and statistics are off the charts. He has everything you want in a QB...intelligence, above average footwork, leadership, a good arm and the knack for making the big-play in the right situation. The guy has that unflappable attitude that all great QBs have and the moxie reminiscent of Joe Willie. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, he wants to PLAY IN NEW YORK!!! IF the Jets can get him, they need to. Cutler = work out wonder Young = Leaf-like bust Go ahead and question his arm-strength. Can anyone actually cite one instance where the guy couldn't make the throw he needed to? Go ahead and question his ability under-pressure. He didn't face much at USC, but that was due to his quick release and timing, good offensive line and good running game. This first can't be taught. The second two are needed for any Super Bowl caliber team. The Jets will need to build an offensive line for him...just like the Colts did for Peyton and the Steelers did for Ben. If you want to wait for 5 years to see if Vince Young develops into Steve Young or Akili Smith, be my guest. If you want to wait for 3 years for Jay Cutler to be Brett Farve or Kyle Boller, be my guest. The guy could step in and easily beat out Ramsey and potentially beat out Chad in year one. That isn't saying much right now, but Cutler and Young can't do that. Stop spending so much time looking for the one or two reasons why not to like Leinert, when there are dozens of reasons to love him.
