i turned to my dad at one point after he broke up a pass today and said "since when is elam good?" he has stepped up and made plays the last two weeks. as long as he is producing turnovers he should be on the field. very impressive performances by him lately.

Elam's confidence is giving him the feeling that he can make any play and run with the talented offenses in the coming weeks... he's proving it too.

If he keeps this up, the Secondary only becomes that much stronger.

Eric Smith shouldn't sniff the field for the rest of the season. Elam has been a difference maker.

If he keeps it up and Lowery develops further into atleast a solid #2 CB it looks like our defense will be complete. We could still use another solid CB tho because Coleman sucks, Miller never plays, and Poteat is average.

While I'm on the topic of defense, do you guys think we could use another d-linemen for rotation?

Cut the B.S.....Lowery is playing very good & he gets no benefit of the doubt or respect from the refs. He's a pretty good tackler & causes fumbles....He's great for a rookie.

His blitz that caused the fumble was so impressive! It lulled Pace and Bulger into a false sense of security!

He has been OK - I don't know why people here give him so much love. He gets picked on a lot. He is a second day rookie that came right in and got the start, so in respect to his draft position he's been good.

Lowery gets "picked on" because he is playing opposite Revis

Same thing for Hall in Oakland - he was playing opposite Asomugha

Yup. They are both sketchy in coverage but at least Elam makes plays.

I'm not going to call Lowery an All-Pro, but could the reason he gets picked on a lot have anything to do with the fact that Revis effectively shuts down his side of the field?

If you were a QB who actually wanted to win, would you throw the ball in the vicinity of Revis, or would you attack the rookie who tends to get excitable?

Lowery is never going to be at Revis' level, but he's definitely not a slouch either.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. That and the fact that he gets beat a lot.

He's been OK, I can't really complain about him too much. I'm not going to sit her and sing praises to him either. I just don't understand how people can say he's been very good or great when he really hasn't IMO.

We have always known that Elam's hits can be discouraging for the recipient.

What is new in the last couple of games is that they are coming from a newly thinking man. As per Kerry Rhodes, the guy believed what he saw and stepped up for that interception and run back. Good thinking, and good recognition.

As per my eyes, I see Elam cheat up, and then step back out, to sooth Pace's slumber as he turns his attention back to the OLB. Then flying past and reminding Mr. Bulger how old he is and where he should be instead of behind the Ram's center.

    Sly, smart, good studying.

    And fierce too.

Eric should ride the pine for a while, and see if his luck can change some.

I'm not going to sing his praises either. Like I said, I don't think he's an All-Pro, but given that he gets a lot more chances to make mistakes, thanks to Revis, it's only natural that a non-All-Pro is going to have times where he fails.

IMO, he's been very good. Not great, but very good. Numbers work against him though.

I think we're probably both on the same page with him, except I value him a little more highly than you do and therefore are a bit more forgiving of mental errors. (I won't lie though. There've been a couple times when I wanted to throw something at the tv because of him.)

Personally, I think Revis, Lowery, Rhodes, Elam is a pretty nice secondary. Could it be better? Sure. But that's going to take first day picks over the next 2-3 drafts.

Elam has come up with big plays past 2 weeks. Represent West Palm Abram!

Just don't put the guy in coverage......LOL

that is true. He uses veteran tricks but since he has no credibility, they are not going to give it to him. Plus the refs were calling a really tight game yesterday.

Lowery's going to have growing pains all year.

If you knew going left was going to get you an incompletion or picked off, i'd go right all day with the better odds. Lowery's character has shown that he will not falter or be discouraged... all its doing is making him a better, more determined player. And he's a film freak, so he'll only continue to hone the craft.

Its only going to get better with Lowery.

I think he'll be fine with more experience - you can see he has the talent and the brains. I wouldn't mind drafting another CB on the first day and throwing Lowery in the nickel position though. Poteat isn't going to be around forever. Lowery reminds me of a young, inexperienced Poteat.
