It's all there - all you would need to do is read for content. Too hard an ask, I guess. (And done without the balls to respond directly.)
True, I also think the first year of a rookie QB will be a throwaway year anyways so 2026 might be a down year. I think if Glenn can get this time a winning season or even playoffs next year it would really set the tone heading into the future. I'd hate to tank next year and then 2026 start a rookie, essentially giving Glenn two free passes. I also think him handling Rodgers personality would be a good test to. If he can it would show a lot and make us all feel confident about him as a head coach. There is a lot to gain for Glenn by bringing Rodgers back imo. I want to see Glenn under pressure next year rather being handed freebie seasons.
https://x.com/BoyGreen25/status/1883600618620960995 " @JayGlazer spoke with #Jets HC Aaron Glenn this morning about the future of Aaron Rodgers: Glenn told Jay Glazer: ‘I plan to go meet with Aaron Rodgers & will definitely come up with a decision much sooner than later. I don’t wanna drag this out.’" Shouldn't be too much longer...
I've thought about this some more and I'll be surprised if Rodgers is back. When I'm trying to predict someone's actions, I always try to remember that everyone looks out for themselves first and foremost. Glenn is going to put his own interests ahead of what's good for the team. Often, these interests will align. But with regard to Rodgers, they do not. Retaining Rodgers means Glenn is screwed if we do poorly next year. Getting rid of Rodgers gives Glenn the almighty QB scapegoat that every coach loves. Unless Glenn is an idiot or uniquely selfless, I am sure he is thinking these things.
I get the sentiment but this is a massive oversimplification. We were 24th in points per game this year. The offense was a larger problem than the defense.
That makes sense tbh. If Rodgers comes back then Glenn has more pressure to win. If he doesn't then less pressure and low expectations.
“He will not start off his career — now I said this first, nobody else is saying this — he will not start off his career with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September,” Keyshawn Johnson, former teammate of Aaron Glenn stated, he continued... "I'm just letting you know, he ain’t going to start his career with that mess. It’s not going to happen. He’s not going to allow somebody to tell him what he’s doing as a coach.”
