That's as much speculation as anything else. Truth is, no one knows anything.

I totally get the Garoppolo's injury history, but I think he's better than Carr. You can argue they are the same, but Carr is not some superstar QB.

I couldn’t disagree any more that Jimmy G is better than Derek Carr. Jimmy G can’t even stay on the field and he is below average when he’s on it overall.

I think you’re confusing what I’m saying I think is going to happen with what I want to happen.

How do you have a near 100 career passer rating and be below average?

why has a team that historically makes good decisions tried to get rid of him two years in a row? Also numbers tell a different story when the guy plays for a team whose slogan is basically “our offense is so easy even Jimmy Garoppolo could do it“. Mr. irrelevant stepped in for him and the team didn’t miss a beat. Arguably played better. The guy has been smoke and mirrors for years now and I hope our GM isn’t one of the people still falling for it.

I'd say because of his injury history. And if their offense is so idiot proof, maybe we can talk them into trading for Zach. If he can put up decent numbers in it then I'm a believer.

P.S. trading up to take Trey Lance doesn't seem like the move of a genius organization.

Fair enough. It is sometimes difficult to unpick nuances from a post on a forum. What I took from what you've written was that if AR doesn't sign with The Jets then JD will be fired because he's not recruited Carr and there are no better alternatives. And, perhaps moreso, that you agree with that. If you do not want JD to get binned off if Rodger's doesn't sign, we are in full agreement. And what could be better than that!!

I'll lay my prediction out (based on nothing more than my own take). Rodgers will be a Jet. If that happens, the 2023 Jets will make the AFC Championship game. At least. We are going to be that f##king good.

    Davis Mills
    Desmond Ridder

Cheap guys with untapped potential that might develop into something real while we finish assembling an actual SB contender. If they don't work out, they were cheap and we'd have a strong roster to go big on QB next year, when were actually ready.

Regarding JD. We had a choice to get at least 3 high picks - or take a chance on the risky Zach Wilson.
That decision alone makes him not one of he best GMs in the league.

TBH, without the Adams trade/steal, he'd be below average.

Aim for Carr and Rodgers, land on Desmond Ridder. That would be the most Jets thing ever.

This is my ballpark with any AR deal.
I've never liked Cimini, but he seems to be maturing (finally at 60).
Some of his takes, recently, have been thoughtful & reasonable.
I just saw this, & I'd be content with it, even though I'm much colder on the AR initiative than most.

Obviously, AR is a gamble, which has been discussed aboard TGG ad infinitum.
I'd be a bit more content with gambling on Jimmy G, & a good backup, or even Zach as backup, now that some experienced O coaching has entered the picture.

I know the majority of you think Zach's a bust, but knowing about & having experienced good coaching, whether in athletics or in life... I see a talented young man, who didn't have a lot of playing experience, or good coaching, prior to being drafted.
He's 23, probably younger than some QBs being drafted next month.
So I'm seeing Zach as a raw-talent, in dire need of some major coaching.

Yeah, Jimmy G & Zach is a gamble, but it would allow the rest of the team to be built properly...
without the win-now pressure older teams experience.
Let the team ripen, & continue to grow together.
Sooo, while I'd prefer gamble #2, I can live with AR at a reasonable asset cost, like what Cimini proposed above.

We'd be lucky to have a young promising QB like RIdder on this team. We should have taken him last year but we were too in love with Zach and trading up.

Do that and the young talent will all be requesting trades by Week 4.

Most of Rodgers statements since his return from the cave have seemed to suggest that retirement is on his mind.

What do you see in Zach that you couldn't say the same about for any other 23 year old QB, including guys who get drafted in the mid rounds and are career backups? I see a guy who looked very good in a set of highly unusual circumstances (the 2020 Covid season when he played for a Power 5-caliber school playing against a mid-major schedule), but aside from that has had career backup written all over him, from his previous years at BYU to his two years in the NFL.
