when a guy says himself he was 90% retired the last thing you want, if you are prepared to give him $59 million, is to let him fall out of communication for months
Not only as OBJ gonna take half as much money to play with Rodgers but he was also going to give up touches and snaps.
There are a bunch of better qualified GMs that never would have done that or let this drag on>>Brandon Beane, Veach/Andy Reid, Howie Roseman , Bill Bellichek all rank much higher in GM Power Rankings So there's a reason slow Joe Douglas comes in at #21
So you'd rather Douglas give in to GB's demands despite having the upper hand because you want something done quicker? Thank god you're not the GM. Edit: and you're replying to a post that is based on pure speculation that Rodgers has fallen out of communication for months when the reality is we have photo evidence of Rodgers working with WRs already.
When you make a trade offer you should present your best offer the first/last time and if they decline it you move on. You don’t hijack an entire offseason and you don’t have a public negotiation
Serious question. What do you do for a living? Because this is quite possible the most out of touch opinion I've seen on the subject.
I remember my first joke. But seriously, what a terrible opinion that was. “Here is my first and best offer in a line of work that revolves around negotiating, take it or leave it”
There is nothing to talk about until close to the draft. Both teams have offers on the table, and the Packers will have to accept come draft time.
Sounds good as long as no other team gets involved anyway... Commanders are up for sale and a new owner could really make his/her mark with an Aaron Rodgers trade.* -- *this is merely my opinion based on years of working in the private sector. my resume is available upon request
Outside of Josh Allen and Tre Edmunds, Beane has been abysmal. Majority of Buffalo can't even stand the guy and how bad he has been in the draft + lack of weapons around Allen.
Which is why GB didn't accept the trade yet. Overwhelming likelihood is no one else will get involved. The Rodgers would have to want to go there after already saying he intends to play for the Jets. But in the extremely improbable event it does happen, they are just waiting as long as they possibly can - just in case. Which is why this deal will be done right before or during the draft.
He's drafted zero AP1 players and 4 PB players since 2018 and zero in the last 4 drafts. 2 of which I mentioned in my first post, so no I didn't make it up. Take off your glasses. 2019 - stinks 2020 - stinks 2021 - stinks
Also - Beane's ridiculous extension to an average TE in Dallas Knox cost them their MLB and team leader but who cares F the bills
I cant help but think some of the folks here that state JD should have done this and that, and good GMs would have had this resolved a long time ago, really have no clue what it takes to negotiate the best position for your team. JD is highly respected across the league by his negotiating approach, and has demonstrated that time and time again, so bending over when you have the upper hand is far from being a good GM. Its the opposite. Saying A Reed or Grossman would cave in and have this done already is nonsense. BB is far from a great GM, moving great players on spite to appease his ego. Its guys like Tanenbaum and the other two idiots that followed him that would have resolved this in a heart beat, over paying thru the ass with a first and more just to appease the boss.
