Yeah most likely true…however, kicking the can down the road by adding years and converting salaries to bonuses so you can spread it over those years is the staple of cap management and has been for as long as the cap has been here. This is the way. It usually works out fine because the cap keeps increasing every year so a lot of money today looks like a really great deal even as soon as a couple years downstream. It’s just how it is. I’m honestly surprised that some QB’s haven’t done deals that are tied to a. % of the cap…I wonder if that will come some day. In any case, a legit franchise QB eats up a lot of cash and a lot of cap….them’s the facts. This is no different. The only way to beat that game is to get great QB play from a draft pick on his rookie deal…we’ve utterly failed at this approach every time, from Zach to Darnold to Sanchez and so forth. So it is what it is… I’m more concerned about the pick swap tonight…going from 13 to 15 isn’t much, but I’ll be super bummed if it means we lose out on one of the top three tackles…though if that’s true then maybe it means there’s a good pass rusher dropping. We’ll see. Next year’s first also sucks, but I think JD and Saleh were confident enough in the team to say look, if Rodgers plays the season and earns that 65% then we are not only a playoff team, but a deep playoff team, so that pick is going to be late 20s, and if that’s true, then so be it. That’s why they didn’t push for a playoffs qualification. Sucks but also kind of cool to see that confidence

C'mon man! First, Zach had no idea who would be brought in to compete with him. But wouldn't you want a guy who is ready to compete, even against the odds? I sure wouldn't like it if he had said, "Oh well. I guess I'll just have to sit back on the bench now and take notes". SMH. And FWIW, I would also hope that Zach gives no quarter to his idol. Of course there's zero chance he beats him out, but giving his all against a future HOF QB is the only way he'll get better.
My favorite part was adding quotes around a sentence Zach Wilson most definitely did not say unless he can predict the future... And if you have watched him play football I would bet he can't.

While he wasn’t my first choice but am glad AR is the QB . So a lot to look forward to and hope for the best. But let’s be real here. Everyone is saying AR is saying and doing the right thing, by staying at volunteer workout, participating in Jets press conferences, working with coaches, going to the Rangers and Knicks games like he s a NYer. This is all expected. It should be no surprised. This is the easy week for him, were in fact he is being treated like a King just like few new signings have come to NY Gladly he accepted but doesn’t mean anything until how he handles bombarded stupid questions after practices, and when the Jets lose their first football game or he shits the bed. I found the following in an article by Zack Rosenblatt at The Athletic. I found it interesting in light of how many Jets fans (both here and elsewhere) for years have been saying what a selfish jerk Rodgers, and also have already given up on Zach. The following quote is particularly relevant in light of some comments made in this thread. “We’re a really, really young team, especially on offense and … he’s already made his presence felt with regards to meetings and input, just discussions on all of the different things we’re trying to get accomplished on offense,” coach Robert Saleh said. “He’s a tremendous human, first and foremost, Aaron is. Just listening, there is little, subtle things I’m not going to get into, but he definitely cares about people and you can tell in the way he speaks to people, so really fortunate that he’s here.” Rodgers has made it clear he intends to take Wilson under his wing, even referencing Wilson’s line from the end of the season that he’d “make life hell” for the quarterback the Jets brought in. Rodgers said he’d make Wilson’s life “heaven off the field” with a smile, also adding that when he was considering coming to the Jets, he wanted to make sure team brass still believed in Wilson. “I think being around me and seeing how I go about my business, seeing how I lead, how I interact with the guys,” Rodgers said, “I think there’s some things he can pick off from that. It’s part of my opportunity here to be a great mentor to him.” Many Jets fans scoffed at the idea of Rodgers mentoring Wilson. Many have scoffed at the idea that Zach can still develop and/or that the Jets truly still believe in Zach. Rodgers obviously still believes in Zach's talent and ability, and I think this shows that the Jets do as well.
You can't save Zack Wilson, at best he is a headcase who folds under pressure, at worst he is just flat out incompetent. Either way he is not fit to play in the Nfl yet alone Cfl. The Jets have already realized this that's why Ar is here probally a year to late. There is no salvaging this kid. Maybe he will be good in 10 years like Geno Smith but I don't want to find out.

Yeah, let's see. On one hand we have seasoned professional talent evaluators, and a future HOF QB declaring that Zach Wilson still has potential, and believe he can achieve it with the right coaching and mentoring. On the other hand, we have armchair GMs and coaches who declare ZW a hopeless bust. Hmmmm...I wonder who I should believe? I think I'll go with the former (that means the first group I mentioned for those who don't know).

What the hell is Rodgers going to say? The kid is a hopeless bust? Aaron Rodgers is here saying all the right things obviously but talk is cheap lets see what happens on the field. I mean if Zack Wilson was kinda bad it woulda been one thing, but the kid played hopelessly bad last year and if the Jets believed in him Ar would not be here this year. If coaches couldn't fix him than Ar can't fix him. It's not a physical thing with Zack Wilson its a mental thing which is 200x worse. Kid just does not have Iq or mental aspect to be a Nfl Qb. Remember Ar's beef with Greenabay started when they drafted Jordan Love to take over as Qb, obviously he sees Zack Wilson as no threat or he would have refused to come here.
I couldn't possibly disagree more. Zach was never a good fit for the WCO. It was a horrible decision by JD to hire Saleh as the HC knowing that he wanted to run the WCO and hire MLF to be the OC. That is NOT the way to handle a rookie QB. The better teams either pick an offensive scheme that fits their rookie QB and what he does well, or they design an offense around him. It's what Baltimore, Buffalo and KC did with their rookie QB. What did the Jets do? They had a rookie HC who was a defensive coach, hired a rookie OC, a rookie QB coach. Even if Greg Knapp had lived, it's doubtful that Zach would have had a chance given that his footwork and mechanics were not those of a WCO QB, nor was Zach's style of play and strengths. I'll forgive JD for that, but he really screwed the pooch on that decision. It is well documented that his rookie season MLF was trying early in games to exploit weaknesses in the opposing teams' secondaries, rather than helping Zach get into a rhythm, build confidence and get comfortable. One cannot change major mechanic issues when one is trying to play. If JD was OK with the WCO and MLF, then he should have either signed a FA veteran to start for a year or two or traded for one and let Zach focus on fixing his mechanics. Having him try to fix his mechanics, change his style of play 180 degrees while playing was idiotic. Thus, it's little wonder that Zach wound up losing confidence, and being a total disaster on the field last year. There was nothing in the scouting reports that we fans saw or heard about with regards to Zach's not taking responsibility, being immature, or not being confident. If those things were there, and the Jets (it was a consensus agreement) drafted him anyway, then that's on all of them. I wanted Brian Daboll hired. He had a long record of helping QBs develop and play at a high level. Now it's posible that he didn't like Zach or he and JD didn't see eye to eye, but if that isn't the case, then he should have been the hire. IMO if he had been, Zach wouldn't have been struggling and playing as poorly as he has. That said, unless Zach is a head case, irresponsible and immature, I still believe that Zach can develop. You don't give up on a QB with the arm talent, playmaking ability, creativity, and athleticism that Zach has because he struggles with a rigid system. You change the system and support him so that he can develop and succeed. He has had a good relationship with Rodgers. He will learn from Rodgers, grow up, he will get his confidence back, and when he has the opportunity to start again, he won't be dealing with mechanics/footwork or having to think too much. His instincts and talent can take over.
