This was always likely to be the hold up. Rodgers has fairly low value at this point because of his age and the contract. Green Bay likely see him as more valuable than he actually is and they're trying to push the Jets offer up in a situation where there are no other bidders.

All the Jets have to do is avoid bidding against themselves and Rodgers will eventually wind up here at a manageable price.

This is why the trip out to meet him was a mistake. That put the Jets on a spot they didn't need to be on in the negotiations. They should have just communicated with his reps in a normal fashion.

We, BTW, can stop worrying about the timing or the "Rodgers is a diva" type issues. This may not happen until June 1st when the Packers get the additional cap relief from the trade.

LMAO, Rodgers just burned any conceivable leverage the Packers might have had.

In my mind the price should be back ended. A 3rd rounder this year, plus a conditional 4th next year. We make the playoffs, it’s a 3rd. Get to championship game it’s a 2nd. Win SB it’s a 1st. We’re taking most or all of his huge salary. If they want to believe his compensation value is high they can put their money where their mouth is.

After this interview, that might be the best offer the Packers are going to get.

Rodgers is burying them right now in front of 400K+ viewers.

I'd take the 3rd rounder this year out of the deal and make the conditional 1st clause apply if we make the Super Bowl but don't win it and Rodgers agrees to play next season.

huh? Schedtwr said yesterday on ESPN that Rodgers going to the Jets is not going to be easy because the GB are or may be asking for additional picks that could complicate things further. He was spot on on that to where we are now.

Funny hearing Russini’s name being slammed again.

She was in my HS graduating class.

Screw the Packers and their egregious asking price.

Offer them a halfway reasonable package (maybe a #2 and a conditional pick next season) and tell them take it or leave it.

After all, THEY are the ones that are contractually obligated and stuck with AR if a deal doesn't get done.

I am actually being quite generous here. In view of his contract they should be giving us compensation to take him off their hands.

What do we get out of this. A year of AR and the right to run back his nonsense again next season.

If anybody thinks we are getting a championship this season w AR or even deep into the playoffs, well, I know this bridge in Brooklyn........................

    Whoopy do !!!

You're 100% right that Rodgers age and contract make him an even value in a trade. If he comes over and gets hurt the Jets are out $110m cash over the next 2 years.
