I hope Rodgers comes on and says Jet in a bunch of different ways but nothing is confirmed. I took JetBlue to get here I'm going under center for the Winnipeg Jets for charity Benny the Jet Rodriguez is the best sport character in movie history I gotta jet.
I would say that's where the Packers started the conversation, because why wouldn't you ask for the ceiling first? But I highly doubt JD gives them what they want. I'm feeling 43rd this year, a conditional pick next year (starts at a 3rd that can escalate), and maybe Corey Davis.
The Packers have 0 leverage so I'm not keen on giving them that much either. That said, starting the ceiling at two firsts is even a red flag. Their first offer should have been the 1st rounder this year (which they shouldn't get).
I have no idea. It probably was something close to the deal they eventually agreed to, which is why Jamal ended up getting traded. It was a very good deal for a box safety.
Maybe this is the hold up. Dov Kleiman on Twitter: ": The #Packers have felt that Aaron Rodgers is worth two 1st round picks via trade, per @AdamSchefter Schefter says the organization felt he's worth a "Matthew Stafford package" of multiple first round picks. https://t.co/B1YVGk0mGK" / Twitter
The Packers are playing this correctly. They hold all the cards. They have their QB situation figured out and holding on to Rodgers changes nothing about their cap situation. They can hold out as long as they want and there's nothing Rodgers or the Jets can do about it.
I hope Rodgers unleashes on the Packers. "I want to continue playing, but they made it clear that they want to move on to Jordan Love. I'm excited to join the Jets, but the Packers are holding me hostage. It's ridiculous to ask for compensation for a player you no longer want." I doubt it happens, but that would make things very interesting.
i am expecting nothing out of this show and more of these annoying insiders break down this discussion into their own narrative and out of context.
The Packers save money by trading him post June 1 so unless the Jets are paying some of it, the Packers have no reason to play ball right now.
Agree. I understand GB is playing hard ball, and worst, recognize GB is negotiating with Woody who wants him at all costs which is totally fucking JD's leverage. But at the end of the day, if we grow a pair and say fuck this, GB will have to sit him on the bench this year or play him, suck up his monster contract and create a nightmare in the locker room, especially for Love. Or a desperation trade to the NFC which would completely fuck them up near term. I'm beginning to think their GM is far more disingenuous casting the blame on AR, talking shit about helping AR find a home. Blah, blah, blah BS. f they continue to play hardball, hope JD says sayonara and AR makes GB life miserable to the bitter end and rightfully so. At that point they hold no cards.GB wanted to move from AR, not the other way around, and if he remains, they will have to play him, or they will become the laughing stock of the league.
Except Mark Murphy completely fucked their hand with his comments the other day. Let me play poker and show you my cards.
Not if AR says fuck you to the trade and they would have to release him and look like a bunch of idiots and get shit.
Other than they want to start the Jordan Love era.l, which is a pretty big reason if you ask me. We can agree to disagree.
You're missing the point. They can start it regardless because they owe Rodgers that money if he's a Jet or Packer. Unless they are trying to get the Jets to pay some of it which could very well be the situation. And if that were the case you'd hope the chicken shit owner that said he'd open up his wallet for a top QB... opens up his wallet.
