It’s currently working for the Lions, Texans and Chargers. The Jets and Patriots are hoping it works for them as well.

What's really mindblowing is that guys make statements like this before the coach has spent a single minute with a single player.

I'm not stating he will be good or bad. I am simply staying there is a candidate that will get the Jets back to winning and instead they went with a risky move.

Now was not the time for risk especially after 14 years of no playoffs and only one winning season.

They have a 50/50 chance of being right.

From all I read the past month the Jets just hired one of the "really hot prospects."

Let's not forget that a coach's abilities as a coordinator have absolutely nothing to do with their abilities to lead and be a head coach. I would much rather have an OC and DC that can coach and call plays so the head coach can be more focused on the game and not have to focus on one side of the ball or the other, but have the pulse of the team and demand excellence / improvement.

You stated "the Jets screwed this up again." That's pretty clear.

Maybe we can get @Brook! to put this in the sticky thread area for the next five years to make it easier to set the invitation list for the Roast Crow dinner. If I'm on it, I'll bring the beer. I've already seen a softening on the part of a few posters in the last two hours.

The Jets screwed it up in the sense they took a high risk play when they did not have to.

I hope it works out and Glenn delivers a Super Bowl.

Let me explain something to you, would you trust Woody to take your life savings to a casino and put it on 1 craps roll? Thats essentially what he keeps doing with these 1st time no name coordinators. Rolling the dice and hoping to get lucky. The Jets have not made the fuckn playoffs in 14 years and been the laughing stock of the league since Woody bought the team employing this strategy. 25 years is enough sample size to show Woody doesn't know how to hire the right people. So how do you solve that besides selling the team to someone competent? Hire someone who has won before and eliminate the crapshoot.

Not if you go by the history of the organization.

I've read some stupid stuff but this is up there

It is a football coach not any of our paltry life savings, we will all be OK.

Totally. That's why he's been out of the league for a decade.

I can't wait for the presser. I have a feeling that he will change a lot of people's minds once the reality of it starts to sink in and he has a chance to speak to the fan base.

Some will still stick to the doom and gloom thing, but I can understand that too. This team has been shit for a long time. It's not bad to hope though and AG really does have a lot to be excited about.

Like I've said, do some research, listen to some of the guys with insight on him, I'm genuinely stoked.

That means we are rolling the dice on once again a 1st time hire again, see Woody's past hires, sample size is big enough to see how that pans out.

Atleast he took this team to the playoffs with a mediocre quarterback and built a offensive line besides having a continously bad defense what has Aaron Glenn done besides talk the talk?

Glenn was one of my favorite Jets and I’m rooting for him to succeed as HC. He’s highly spoken of by former coaches, teammates, and players- particularly for his football acumen and leadership qualities. The HC is a general- he needs an overarching strategy, the sense to hire the right people to implement it, and the ability to motivate them to do so. Lots of people seem to think that he has these skills. Good.

But…I really wish this idiot organization a) hired a GM first so they could have input on the coach and b) brought in more offensive minded HC candidates. Like many others posted, McCarthy and Kingsbury in particular. Seemed like Glenn wanted the gig, so what’s the harm in waiting a bit longer to talk to these guys?

I’m not looking forward to the fake spike clip being played ad nauseum whenever we play the fish.

I love it. There’s actually Jets fans that were hoping it’d be Glenn. Like, they sat at home quietly praying “I hope the Jets do exactly like they’ve done these past 25 years and draft another DC to be a first time HC.” Yup, there’s the answer. I ca’t wait to see how Aaron Glenn develops a young QB by drafting DT’s.
