Reading it's an achilles injury :( hoping for a speedy recovery. AA is a great dude.

So you know more than HCs around the NFL? Please, you know little about Gilchrist. Reports from camp are how smart he is and a great communicator, and how he is highly thought of by HCs around the NFL, and I think they know more than you.

Damn, what a shame, I remember his play against TE's in 2013, he was really good covering them, sort of his specialty despite his size.

Pick 6 on Brady covering Gronk. Permanent place in my heart for that play.

He's made several really big plays for us in key spots, game-changing plays that contributed greatly to wins. If I recall, he's scored several TD's for us. He's a playmaker, so this loss stings. :(

Not the end of the world. But AA can play a lot of different positions for us. I hope this injury isn't to bad.

lmao why do i have to know more then coaches? Maybe i watch Chargers games and i'm not sold on him.. it's my opinion.. Just because YOU never seen him play and are only going by what you READ doesn't mean I don't watch the chargers play enough have my own criticism .. since you are a reader why won't you go do your own research and you'll find out why myself and probably 95% of the chargers fanbase don't like him.. lmao who are you to tell me what i know about?

Why not? He was a top FA Safety.

You were gonna see a lot of Gilchrist irregardless of AA anyway...:)

You might as well get used to it. And some cut player isn't taking his place either, lol

  11. Gilchrist is a fine addition. He's a versatile coverage guy who isn't afraid to get physical. He's sort of no-nonsense but is capable of big plays including behind the line of scrimmage. The down side on Gilchrist is really his size; Though he does tackle well.

I think he's a good compliment opposite both Pryor & Jarret. He'd allow those guys to play aggressive & really Tee off behind that wonderfully tight Revis coverage.

Tough to lose Antonio as he's a bigtime gadget/match-up guy & can make big plays. New York Jet to the core.Fans love him as they should.

Rontez Miles has shown the ability to do some really good things on a football field, until he got hurt.I'm not sure where he is in his rehab but if he's the same guy post injury he has a chance to not only make the team but find a successful role.

But a bunch of TV replays so it's more like "several".

My problem with Gilchrist is he's been an easy target for QBs. I think Todd Bowles likes his versatility..yes he can drop from being a safety to a nickle corner if needed when he's on the field.. the problem is.. he's just not a great cover guy.. QB's rating when throwing on him every year is well over 100 at 76% ... maybe Bowles has plans for him.. but his contract even shows that this is nothing more than a prove it year for him. He's guaranteed 1 year 3.5 mill.... if he was that good he wouldn't be here as an experiment.. He's a really good tackler.. i'll give him that. He's not even a free safety.. he's a strong safety that will be used here as a free safety. Like i said this is completely an experiment. I wouldn't have my hopes up thinking we finally found our FS for years to come.. simply because He never even was a FS lol! spent 2 years as a nickle and 2 years as a strong safety..

Honestly i like the idea of having Milliner play some FS.. i've been hearing that possibility looming around

  15. I go back & fourth on this one. On one hand I think he has the skillset to be a big time safety. But on the other I view him as a safety net(no pun intended) for if Cro and/or Skrine struggle at corner.

Interesting thought: Moving Dee to safety WOULD allow the Jets an additional roster spot for their surplus of sturdy corners. That might save a Darrin Walls.

Sorry to see AA hurt. But I can't see this as a huge loss for our 2015 season. Kid was a 7th round pic who made one play in 4 years.

Just seemed like he was 'almost' talented enough to play any position in the secondary.

Jarrett, Pryor, Gilchrist, maybe even a little Milliner/McDougle at FS when Bowles floods the field with little guys.

Could Bowles find a home for AA? Sure. Can Bowles field a top D without AA? Sure.

Have Faith in Mac&Bowles....He'll be okay

And hopefully we dodge a bullet, figuratively and literally, with that fuckwit Sheldon :)
and we get him back to add some pressure up front.

    lmao @ literally.

But yeah i mean i have a lot of faith in Mac & Bowles hopefully not to a fault in the future.. We have too good of a defense for one guy to completely ruin it but if there was one guy to do it my money is on Gilchrist lol. Hopefully he takes his game to a new level this year though.. maybe the switch to FS will do good for him.. i doubt it but i hope so.

You don't have to. My point is that you don't. I don't care how many times you have or haven't seen him play. Every year on this and every Jets site on which I've posted and read, I've seen guys like you say this guy sucks or that guy suck, and 7 or 8 times out of 10 they have no clue what they're talking about. It gets old. Mac thought he was good. Unless or until he proves that he's no better evaluator of talent than Idzik, I will trust him, and I will trust what NFL coaches think about players over what I or any other fan say.
