The reason I would think it's Woodhead is because he's officially on the roster as WR. I don't have a ton of faith in LC at his age, but it's crystal clear, until Holmes comes back, we need some kind of additional threat at WR. Maybe Woody can be the answer, but it really doesn't look like it. Somebody mentioned Clowney earlier. He could play ST, even though we all know Westoff's not a huge fan of his. But, maybe he can stretch a defense a little more.
I don't think Coles should have ever been cut. He's earned a spot after all these years. He's not that old. I bet had he been in this game he would have held on to the ball unlike some.
It might just be a financial concern, but it looks like Woodhead already made the roster at WR over Coles. If it was for any reason other than talent/possible production, then I'm going to seriously start questioning the decision making of Ryan/Tannenbaum. There are plenty of marginal players we could have kept on the PS to make room for Coles' league minimum contract. Keeping project players at the expense of talent that can help you win games early is a great way to cost yourself a job.
The pay-by-game thing has been written in different places and talked about in others. I don't see why it would be a big deal (a veteran-minimum contract) but I don't own a NFL team. lol.
My point on that one was that it would have been a gamble, especially if the Jets didn't think about putting Woodhead out there(which I don't remember them doing, of course, I could be wrong. Beer is great). My point was that if Tannenbaum/Rex deprived the franchise QB of a target and only kept three WRs on the roster b/c of financial reasons, then I think that Tannenbaum and Rex should rethink which risks they want to take.
